I'd been working on this layout for like 2 weeks now @_@ The HTML kept screwing up...
BUT ANWAY!! Yes, I finally got my new layout up, version22, after much hardship. Check it out

http://www.xanga.com/systemdamaged

And I don't want to see constructive criticism like "It's too dark". I wanted it dark, its supposed to be a dark layout, because I'm feeling dark and lonely, alrighty? Thanks.

i'm loving the color choice, and teh image reflects the whole mood of the layout well. the only problems i can see is that the image doesn't align with the background and that things are hard to see.

it might be that your resolution isn't the same as a lot of other people's resolution. My resolution is 1024x768.

it misaligin on a 1024X800 resolution as well on mine.
i experiment this before, it the way you code your <div>
thsi how i code my 100% height <div>

<div id="content" style="margin-top: -1300px; margin-left:390px; width: 475px; height: 100%; overflow:visable:auto">

and it never misalign for me.

i like the marquee img, it look like it part of the layout.
maybe gray is kinda hard to read,
have you try white? but white might look too bright, try some diferrent color.

Nice. It's a tad misaligned though. Maybe make the font a tad bit lighter so it's readable?

Thanks for the comments.
Changed the font color a LITTLE bit lighter, if it was any lighter, it would have looked wierd with my layout.
And I used the <DIV> alignment code, BOAmusic, but it just kinda screwed up my layout, so I left it was is.

i'm gonna say it's too dark, regardless of whether you wanted it that way or not. learn to have some restraint. there needs to be some kind of color to relieve the eyes; because you can barely read anything, and after a few moments, your eyes get bored and there's no direction in the layout to force the eyes to wander. it just gets old after a few seconds.

its not aligned. and if you don't want constructive criticism, why'd you post it up knowing that people will be judging it? i know you don't wanna hear this, but it's really..really...really dark. and that affects the layout cuz its hard to read.

other than that, it's a good layout.

I didn't say I didn't want any constructive critism, I said I didn't want multiple posts saying how dark it is. I understand it's dark, and I'm sorry if its boring, or unreadable, but its not that dark on my computer, and I've already lightned up parts of the layout including the parts of the graphic using the "Screen" method and the font. If I make it any lighter than it is now, it'll defeat the purpse of the whole layout. I wonder how dark it looks on your computers because it's already too light for my taste on my computer. I also understand that it's msaligned on some people's computers, but its ok on mine, so I can't do anything about that. Otherwise, thanks for the posting.

you obviously dont take advice very well, so why bother posting?

the layout has no direction or even any focus because there isnt enough CONTRAST to force the eyes to move towards any point in your layout; so when people look at it, they basically phase out after a few seconds.

I'm sorry you feel this way.
I was just saying that it isnt nearly as dark as you guys are making it to seem. Maybe it is because of the different color resolution on your computer, but on my computer, it's already 5 shades lighter than it was first made to be. I have added contrast to the original graphic, lightened it, and changed the font color to keep people from complaining, but it obviously wasn't enough. I'm sorry you feel that the dark colors of the layout is boring to the eyes and cause them to "phase out" as you said, but I've already changed my layout's shade time and time again, only to recieve more bad input on the color.

by contrast, i dont just mean by lightening certain things. i mean in color as well. as i said before, you need a new color to relieve the eyes.

Oh ok, I'm sorry, I misunderstood. I was just trying to keep the colors basically the same, but I guess I shouldn't, huh? laugh.gif
