What is it that causes Xanga to crash when you add, music to your site? |

I'm having major trouble @ my xanga: http://xanga.com/shes_alryte
Everytime I add the music link, it crashes. Without music it's fine. Does anyone know what the problem could be? I have tried adding it by putting in the music code in the website stats section also. However, it always freezes my computer and crashes it. |

Are you linking the song from another site? Sounds like that other site is crashing your computer. I could be wrong, I don't know. But try to find a different song or find the same song but from a different website.

No, I'm not linking it from another site. I uploaded it first from hostima.net and then after it closed down, I switched to hostultra.com. However, I'm getting the same results.

I think maybe the size of the music file is too big.
Or your computer doesn't have enough memory to load the song. |

I have the same problem. I link my music from angelfire, but the only solution I have found is to open up windows media player, then open url, type the music link and let it load. It stays in the temporary internet files memory so now when you go it won't crash your xanga. Atleast that is what worked for me.

However, what I did was add the embed music code to the webstats section, I added the music as background music, and I also posted the music's url in the place that xanga has specially for it. when you use the <embed> tag, it's usually a lot slower--try using the <object> tag, i'm pretty sure there's some code for how to use that floating around somewhere

Object? I've never heard of that for a music code. I've always seen <embed>. Anyhoo, it's not slower or anything to me. But I'll try the object one.
