I always have my computer on, and that's why I always rush to it when I get home.
If you're like me and leave your computer on.. you should turn it off and leave a post-it note on the monitor screen saying "AFTER THE HOMEWORK". After you finish your homework, go to sleep. When you go home after school the next day, you'll rush to the computer and see the note and the black monitor and you'll think.. "Oh crap. My homework." Meh.. worked for me. |

Sometimes If i know i have a big report comming up or homework thats due (or in my case over due), I go to the library, or stay after school to do it, I've also inviteed friends over to help me get it done faster.(friends in the same class, with the same homework) {otherwise I'd end up goofing off}

try moving your computer somewhere else, or moving yourself somewhere else. like when i study for exams, i go to an empty bedroom with just a bed and a dresser so there won't be any temptations of distractions.

LOLz.... We had a topic like this in my Psychology class, and how to break bad habbits...
1) Try setting up your envioronment so that your more likely to do homework first rather then going to the computer. Like before yo ugoto the computer, set up your homework on the desk... An example would be placing your binder on your table, have it opened, and your pencil sharpend, so taht your ready to go. When you place your things on the table, make sure its a place where you constantly see it. Knowing that you have other things to do can motivate you to getting it done. 2) Set up rewards and punishments... This can be done by saying "if i finish my homework, then i'll get on the computer". Your reward is computer time. and just the opposite as well. "If go on the computer without finishing your homework, give $1.00 to a CHARITY YOU HATE".... An example would be the KKK, Abortion clincs etc. This can motivate you because if you donate that dollar to the chairity you hate, then they'll end up using your dollar in things that you disagree with. hence the rewards, and punishments 3) Have your parents and friends help you. Parents and friends are good motivators, and can provide alternative ways of studying. This can also help you reinforce your rewards and punishments. |

your best bet is to either stay at school where u can study without distractions at home or go to a library. if that doesnt work find a study group who actually studies. dont study with friends cuz u'll end up just hanging out n not do ur hw. i could never to my hw at home so a lot of times i did it at school.

think about your future and how your grades will affect you big time if you don't get good grades. for me, I just do my work until I'm finished, then I don't have to worry about anything else.

Yeah, there are topics like this. In fact, I've made one in the past. Anyways, to stop procrastinating, you need to eliminate what is taking use of your time while you are procrastinating. If it's the computer then unplug it. If it's the TV then go to a different room. If it's the phone then turn it off. Etc. It also might help just to go to the library and get a quiet study room for yourself where no one can bug you and where it's silent and you can just work without distractions. If that doesn't help then it might also help to try to make a schedule. Like let's say you get out of school at 3PM. Then schedule between 3PM-4PM you have break/rest time. Then from 4PM-4.30PM you read for English. From 4.30PM-5.30PM you work on Geometry. Etc. And tell your parents about this schedule too so they can make sure you are trying your hardest to stick to it. Oh, and if you decide to construct a schedule, it's best to have 5-10min breaks in between every 20min of work. That way you learn better and remember what you actually studied (I learned this from my counselor so I'm not just making it up.) And in that break get up and stretch, get something to eat, take a jog around the block; something just to get you energized enough to work through a whole nother 20 min of straight studying w/o having thoughts of going on the computer or flipping the TV on. So yeah, hope these tips help or something. Oh and also what other people said. I'm not sure how old you are but once you are a junior or a senior I think another reason to not procrastinate is college because grades are very important. So think towards your future.
