i have a question to ask. if ur boyfriend tells u to just be really good friends and then says "no u didnt get dump, i just need some time off to focus on my studies" so does that mean hes still my boyfriend?

you will never know until you ask him. he probably just needed a break from you to focus more on his studies. or maybe that is just a lighter way to state that he doesnt want t be with you anymore .__< but you will never know until you ask him yourself and get the answer straight from him :) hopefully eveyrthing goes well for you

It sounds to me like he is trying a really nice subtle way to say, "We're done." Therefore meaning he is your ex. But the only way you will ever know is if you ask him. So, ASK HIM! It might sound stupid to say, "Are you my ex?" Haha so instead just say, "So, are we still together or what? I'm confused on if you still want to be with me." It's a bit more subtle.

he said that when his grades are steady, ill be his gf again. he didnt mention anything about us not being together, just he has no time to take care of me at the moment.

maybe you are on a "break" , he obviously doesn't want you completely out of his life, so maybe he just needs some time to get everything going on his life in order, maybe he is really stressed out and stuff, i wouldn't consider it exclusive, unless he says so
