I really need more self-confidence! My family has been saying that, as well as my friends. They support me by telling me I'm pretty or smart or whatever, and at times, it really does help, but I still find myself comparing myself to my friends or something. Also, this may be why people sometimes take "advantage" of me because I don't "stand up" to those who critisize things such as my art, writing . . . whatever.

Yeah, and this is my first post, lol. <--- Still a newbie! wink.gif

//KK, I'd really like it if some of you could give me some advice . . .

I understand how you feel. I sometimes think that I'm not as pretty/smart/or talented as my friends but whe I get those compliments from family it can brighten my day.

What you should do is think of your favorite accomplishment. For me it's my drawings and photography. Heh, it helps me <33. and WELCOME!

yeah i feel the same way and my aunt always tells me that i need more self confidence. One of the reasons i dont make any girl friends at all is because i cant stand them. i always compare myself to them and feel all bad afterwards...-_-...quite pathetic.

EDIT: advice? find something that you do well or think about all the good qualities you have

yea i feel like that a lot. and when somebody compliments you you feel like they're being sarcastic and making fun of you... but it's not always true. but after a while i've just gained more self esteem... somehow. socialize more?

Ooh, I need more self-confidence too.
Really, if you believe in yourself of what you're doing, you're basically building your self-confidence. Just talk to people, make yourself feel proud of being who you are. _smile.gif

I also need a better self-esteem. mellow.gif

maybe they mean that you need to be more optomistic. sometimes you need to think about how fortunate you are compared to millions of others and how great you are compared to millions of others also.

I used to really lack self confidence. One way to change this is to change your mindset. Like think about it this way; there will always be someone prettier, smarter, nicer, cooler, etc than you and you just got to deal with it. You can't preoccupy yourself with those little nonsense worries because it won't get you anywhere. And with looks, well just don't worry too much about yourself because you know what? Everyone is so caught up on what they look like that they don't really give a damn on what you look like. Haha it's the truth. But yeah, just try to listen to what people say and TRUST them. Your friends wouldn't lie to you and say you are great at something when you absolutely suck (at least a good friend wouldn't.) So trust what they say.

i lack in self confidence too, but hm i guess my way of getting over that is sayinf F*ck all of them, i dont need their stupid complaints about how good they look or if they look okay? or just the stupid idiot 3rd grade sh*t they do.

i know too many people who are concited and are fake. no one needs that type of people around them. sorry im not giving the best advice but just live life and see how it goes. another good idea would be to find a friend you can complain with, like "gah i hate when people always tell me to do this or that" like regular stuff that really annoy you but you never tend to say leave me alone or something like that >_<! sorry if i dont make any sense, its just my view on people and on how i "deal' with things, hope your confidence in yourself builds up ^-^

hmm yeah just this year actually, i've built up so much more self-confidence and self-esteem than in the past few years. i don't know how...i just grew to be able to accept who i am. i think the attainment of such great friends this year helped too. i still compare myself to others sometimes but i've gotten better. i'm sure you will too. thumbsup.gif

people take advantages of me because of that too, i just ignore them and act cool, force yourself to, otherwise you'll feel really bad.

well..now i am definately NOT a pretty girl. but i still have alot of confidence*most times*.. cuz i KNOW that im smart and i KNOW all the things that im good at...and i KNOW the good things about me.. so it doesn't really bother me. but still... from time to time i still feel insecure about my looks.. like smtms i feel i'm fat.. smtms i feel like i dont belong, smtms i wish i was popular with certain ppl.. i wish i'd get more attention from the guys... but then... in the end... i'm really happy with my personality..n anyone who doesn't like me can just go SCREW IN HELL =).

hey who cares if you're not as pretty as her, or as smart as him. you're utterly lovely the way you are !! don't let anyone tell you otherwise. it doesnt matter, at all what other ppl think of you. just do whatever you want, laugh the loudest, and talk the most. don't ever hold back anything you have to say. believe in yourself. hold your up highhhh ;]

You don't always need to have it, but it's great to have it. I mean I would want too, but not too much of the self-confidence cause you can cross the line haha. Like this girl I know _dry.gif Ehh... anyways I can't really help you cause I mean I'm trying to do the same thing. But it's kinda hard? But if you really want to get yourself a self-confidence. Try to speak in public a lot? Few of my friends said so since they have self-confidence. They said that it helped them a lot. Ehhh I hate speaking in public, so I'm going in a slow direction haha.

absolutely, i totally agree with you.
sometimes, i've the same feeling as you.
i think everyone is better than me, that i'm just a fool.

but, just realize that, everyone is unique, everyone has own talent.

the self-confidence you need is just BELIEVE in yourself!
