is it possible to disable the 'new poll' button in debate?

and: to debate: what should we do to polls in debate? not enough mods come here for it to be moved in time.

I don't really care, but polls are kind of annoying and just.. wrong in debate.

well, i think part of the problem is that a poll gets posted; and then someone comes along and tells the person no polls in debate. they say "oh ok. sorry didn't know that. Mods please close this "

and then- a mod doesn't show up. so then someone else comes and votes in the poll, preventing it from sinking into the netherworld that is the pile of threads older than 30 days.

Debate is all about stating your opinion and backing it up with reasons. But most people, in polls, just click and leave. No explanations. =\

Defeats the whole purpose of the debate section if you ask me.

QUOTE
Debate(v) To engage in argument by discussing opposing points.

QUOTE
Poll (n) - The place where votes are cast and registered.

Debate is supposed to be an arguement-like thing, not a poll like you were voting for president.

Polls aren't even necessary.. Debate is a time for arguing your side of the issue, not a time to vote. People might pass by and just vote and probably wont debate.

Remove the polls man... Thats what I want to do.

**EDIT**

yeah, i finally thought it up. We should have a debate mod in createblog, who monitors mainly the debate section.

well, it's more of a poll to emphasis the fact that mods don't really close or move polls in debate.

which i belive it's doing nicely, as it's still here...

mmmhmmm... i gotta point this out again.. we should tell micron or one of the mods to have a DEBATE mod... but at the same time, we really don't need one because our debates are doing just fine so far.

yea, the debates themselves don't need much moderating, but polls need to be closed.

this poll is to emphasis it.

(see, it's still not closed)

if they're pollish and could go in lounge or something, then i guess move them. otherwise, i guess close them.
as long as they aren't in debate.

thanks!

Oh sorry. I've been so busy with debate (in real life) that I haven't gotten the time to debate here. pinch.gif I promise I'll come over here more often. Hmm...it's just that sometimes the debates don't catch my attention anymore. Heh. Anywho, I'll close this. If anyone has any objections and actually wanted this to be open, feel free to PM me.
