Splits, Can you?

i can do it. i started doing splits when i was about 8 yrs. old. Also doing some tae kwon do helped me improve my splits better.

wow so when i was obsessed with doing the splits i stretched every night and like just kept trying. push yourself but not too hard. lol i cant even do them anymore _dry.gif

i do ballet and ive been trying for years. i finally managed to do it last month.

if you really want to do the splits, you have to be very careful. you must do a few minutes of stretching before you do or else you can easily hurt ure muscles. dont b too sad if you cant do it tho, its normal (cmon i tried for a few years!) ure teacher cant just expect you to be able to do the splits pronto.

and doing the splits do hurt and theres nothing you can change about it.

yeah i can.

stretch out like crazy before you try though, and don't go too far at first because you'll hurt really badly later. just go down to where you usually do, and if you're using your arms, bend them a little, but still keep some weight on them.. and just gradually increase the blah. yeah.. you'll get it eventually.

personally, i do about 15-30 minutes of stretching, before and after.

I am working on a split...i'm not that close...in a few years maybe i'll get it..I take ballet and have been doing it for i think 2 years, this is my 3rd...

Start with yur legs apart; as if you are about to do a banana split.
Slowly bend yur front leg so dat yur knee is about 90º from da floor; and yur hind leg is almost flat on da ground.
Bob up&down slightly for about 2 minutes.
Switch legs&repeat.
Do this for 5 minutes each day; and in a week; you'll eb able to do a split.
That's what my friend taught me.

i think i should try. i cant do it. me and my sister always pull and push each other down. . lol. theres a show in hk name super trio. and theres a split game where you have to go as far as you can to blow the candles. so i always try to split and do it. =D

splits are hecka cool! i want to learn how to do them, but i can never find out how...the closest i've actually come to a split is about...lets c...not that much...

i stopped taking dance lessons for a long time.. but i still strech every week so i can still do it =)..and i dont stretch before i do them..n it doesn't matter.. i do them ..jus..soo often.

woohoo.

i do them during P.E for warmups..n its freaks out my teacher...and my boyfriend HAHAHAHA

i can do them. i was a gymnast for a really long time. you just have to do them everyday. we did two minutes straight and the coaches would push us. once we get them all the way down we would put a leg up on something and get pushed down more. it takes a lot of work and time but make sure you do it everyday.

you never want to bob up and down because it is very bad for your muscle. if you cant do them you probably shouldnt start out doing 5 minutes. you could work your way up to five minutes. it wouldnt happen in a week either unless you are almost there. always stretch first. get down on one knee so there is a 90º angle. next pull your front leg straight and try to put your nose to your knee. lastly bend your front knee again and pull the back leg up so you feel a stretch in your thigh. hold all the stretches for 30 seconds and then slide in.
