I went to Las Vegas back in Summer 2002 in the hotel area (yay, New York New York hotel!) and the only way one could escape from smokers was to go to their hotel room. People smoked in cars, trolleys, casinos, buffets, WATER PARKS (People smoked at Wet n' Wild in LV), EVEN in the arcade. Whenever I smell smoke, I cough--it hurts my nose, my throat, my lungs, etc. My boyfriend has asthma and he's smoke probably three times in his whole life so far. I get mad at him everytime because he has mild asthma and I don't want him to die from it. That's why I never let him smoke. I KNOW that smoking kills.

And to those who continue to say "OMG, it's our f*cking right! Don't tell us it's bad because it doesn't mean sh*t to us! We do what we want!" Have you even LISTENED to what you said? Did you learn anything in school? There are FACTS out there. I truly admire those who can quit because yes, it DOES take a great deal of time and patience to be able to quit, but think how great it would be. Regardless of whether you smoke around your friends or not, it's still bad. I'm just stating my opinion, so please don't jump down my throat and say I'm wrong in everything. I'm basing my opinions on facts, just as uninspiredfae has.

What does smoking mean to me? One of my aunts died of lung cancer from smoking. She started most likely to deal with grief from her husband dying from the Vietnam War. My mother loved her most because they were the closest in their big family. Obviously, my mom never got over the fact that my aunt wouldn't have died such an unnecessary death if she didn't choose smoking.

Sure, it was my aunt's choice to smoke. But you see how one person's selfish choice brings pain to another?

I can't say that I hate my aunt because she was a second mother to me, but I can say that I hated her for smoking.

So, if you want to break this down for you, I hate smokers for their addiction to something that will hurt themselves and people around them.

Meh, i just wanted to say something for this topic.

If you smoke, you hurt your family. Both mentally and physically. When I was little, my father smoked. Every time I was around him, he would always smell horrible and I would be breathing in that smoke ( obviously, it's second-hand smoke.) My mother knew it was bad for me, so she always asked my dad to stop. I guess it was hard for him to quit. After I finally asked him to stop, he stopped. I was pretty proud of my dad. Actually, I still am proud of him till this day, cause i knew he gave up an addiction just for his family.

A couple of my uncles still smoke though....it's really dissappointing. Every time i visit them, i tell them to please stop....but they don't listen. I guess adults don't listen to little kids, eh? They know that they're hurting themselves though....which i find weird cause really, why would you do something that would hurt yourself? I'm not sure if they're aware of the fact that they're hurting everyone around them, though.

Well, what i'm trying to say is that when you're smoking, you're hurting yourself and everyone around you. If you quit, I'm pretty sure that you'll feel glad that you've stopped hurting yourself and your family and friends.
