Okay so I'm moving to Austin (from Dallas :D) and I'm having to like, pack up all my stuff in boxes. Now, I've lived here for 11 years. ELEVEN. And I'm leaving some of my stuff here, cuz I'm movin in with my mommie and I don't need ALL of it, but I can't decide what to take and what to leave. SO the purpose of this is to talk to people and wee how you went about packing up your goodies when you moved somewhere. I'm trying to put all my stuff into boxes, but I have so much freakin stuff its CRAZY. So yeah, gimme some tips and tell me some good stories...I need something to occupy me so I can avoid getting back to my packing. wink.gif

LMAO.
I defintely think you should keep your electronics, valuables, clothes of course. tongue.gif Probably your bed.. I mean, if your mother doesn't provide one at her house. ;S Probably a few plates and stuff that are really valuable. Maybe you can leave the TV unless you want your own. mellow.gif Haha, yeah, that's all I got..

Well I'm taking all my electronics cuz I have my own room there and I dont want to share!! Only problem is I'm allowed to take everything from here but my bed. My cousin (its her house) said I have to leave it so when I come back I'll have somewhere to sleep, and I wont haul it back and forth. So I have to give up my favorite bed ever..its a sealy posturepedic. Its like sleeping in heaven..my friends come over just to sleep on it laugh.gif so yeah. I'm trying to decide if I should leave things like my collectible barbies and my disco ball...and lava lamp...and strobe light...and black light...haha yeah.

Uh...I dunno...when I move, I just MOVE.

Omg, this reminds me, I just had a horrid dream the night before about going on this long trip and I remembered to pack everything except my beloved mp3 charger, and then it turned into a nightmare...

-hands you cowboy hat-

I remember once when I moved when I was 7, and I made this sort of figurine village out of my bookcase. I had all these animal doll things and literally had them sleep in matchbox beds and cardboard houses. Rofl. Then I got all sad when I had to get rid of it and move to my new house.

stuff you dont use everyday, e.g. the collectible barbies you mentioned, should stay at your cousin's house

that way, when you visit, your room still has some personality

Take what you would miss.
I hate moving. Did it once when I was 4, lost all my favorite toys and shit.

Well, once you've decided what to pack, you should probably pack things by catagory. That way it all fits nicely and is easy to find while unpacking.

Hmm, next year I'll have to move into a dorm... But anyways just take whatever you'll need and might be missing. Leave the collectables and stuff at home so when you come to visit you'd still have those.

keep the stuff that youve used/touched/thought of being useful in the past year. everything else isnt of much value if you dont like it or you dont use it.

lol i thought i was the only one with collectable barbies laugh.gif

just sort through everything, creating a don't need pile... and jam everything else in tight into the boxes whistling.gif you probably don't need to bring a DVD player or tv, or your lamps...

Well when I moved I was about 5 so I didn't really had to pack anything cause my mom did it for me. (hehe) But it was very hard and it was like less than a mile away.

I think my mom wants to move to Texas and if wwe do move it's going to be even harder, since it's in another state. _dry.gif

I moved after 13 years of staying at one place =( Anyways, I made a pile of I want, I want to throw away, recycle, and give away. It helped although the piles were HUGE in the end =)
