A gay friend of mine sent this to me, and I thought it would go very well here. I know this topic is old, and I apologize.

Top 15 reasons Gay marriage is wrong!

15. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

14. There are plenty of straight families looking to adopt, and every unwanted child already has a loving family. This is why foster care does not exist.

13. Conservatives know best how to create strong families. That is why it is not true that Texas and Mississippi have the highest teen birthrates, and Massachusetts, Vermont, and New Hampshire have the lowest. This is a myth spread by the liberal media.

12. Marriage is a religious institution, defined by churches. This is why atheists do not marry.

11. Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why our society has no single parents.

10. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

9. Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

8. Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

7. Gay marriage should be decided by the people and their elected representatives, not the courts. The framers checked the courts, which represent mainstream public opinion, with legislatures created to protect the rights of minorities from the tyranny of the majority. Interference by courts in this matter is inappropriate, just as it has been every time the courts have tried to hold back legislatures pushing for civil rights.

6. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britany Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

5. Civil unions, providing most of the same benefits as marriage with a different name are better, because "separate but equal" institutions are a good way to satisfy the demands of uppity minority groups.

4. Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

3. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

2. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

1. Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

It's ok... xD You didn't know. Here, I'll reply to them all as if I were serious, but I'm really not. :P

15. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

It will gradually change many things, but I don't think it will change the foundation of society. There are millions of people in America that see homosexuality as something that is morally wrong (including myself). It may be their the point of view, but they are still part of society.

14. There are plenty of straight families looking to adopt, and every unwanted child already has a loving family. This is why foster care does not exist.

You're right, this isn't true. On the other hand, I honestly don't think that gay people are looking to get married just so they can adopt children. Domestic partners can adopt too. :P

13. Conservatives know best how to create strong families. That is why it is not true that Texas and Mississippi have the highest teen birthrates, and Massachusetts, Vermont, and New Hampshire have the lowest. This is a myth spread by the liberal media.

There are still liberals in Texas and Mississippi.

12. Marriage is a religious institution, defined by churches. This is why atheists do not marry.

Why do athiests marry? Just to get a piece of paper that says, "You're legal binded to me." To proclaim their "love" to one another. I argue, can you actually know love without knowing God? (<- That will ruffle some feathers)

11. Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why our society has no single parents.

Well, it's certainly not healthy, but that doesn't mean they won't succeed. It's a major benefit to a child when they have a male and female role model. I'm pretty sure that it's safe to assume that the majority of single parents didn't want to be single parents. I'm pretty sure most of them end up that way through a serious of unfortunate events.

10. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

Without religion, what's the point of marriage? Marriage, it's roots are grounded in religion. If you want to look at it purely as a contract that legally binds people together then be my guest. I guess I just don't see the point of legally binding yourself to one person. You're just creating a single point of failure in your life. To me, marriage has no purpose if spirituality is taken out of

9. Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

Definitively not true, but the probablity of a homosexual couple raising a gay child is much higher than that of a straight couple raising a gay child. You're parents are you're role models. As a child you look up to them and adopt many of their traits.

8. Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

Um... I haven't heard this argument yet. I don't think that infertility is a reason gay couple shouldn't be allowed to marry.

Majority rule. Democracy, this isn't a theocracy you know. *sigh*

6. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britany Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

In my eyes it is less meaningful. If it wasn't for my religion, I don't think I would get married at all. I wouldn't have a reason to do it. Like I said, "I would just be creating a single point of failure in my life." I would be trusting someone who could take a percentage of every paycheck I receive for the rest of my life... because she's a woman.

As a network administrator I know that user error is cause of nearly every problem I have. The applications rarely fizzle out. It's always the people. I'm trusting someone else not to fail me, and I'm binding my assets to them with a legal contract. Um... not for me, I would much rather trust them without having them grafted into my bank account.

4. Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

Ummmm... the homosexuals who wrote this are running out of things to say. This sarcastic comment is... to far over the top. I'm not even going to bother.

3. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

Sure... the religious nut-case who wrote this is just going to make Christianity look bad. Sucks for us.

2. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

Don't leave out the details now. The more people who accept homosexuality, the more wide spread homosexuality will become. When society accepts a life style, people live that life style. This has nothing to do with tall or short people. Legalizing gay marriage will encourage homosexuality.

1. Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

I officially believe that the word natural is relative to the individual using it. On the other hand, you are supposed to stick the penis into the pussy and not the penis into the a-hole. Also, rubbing pussy together doesn't really work well.
