It disgusts me to know that people can be so blatantly hypocritical.

You hate, too, so why can't others hate? Don't be trying to justify your kind of "right" with hate and then say that other people are wrong for hating as well. Sheeeesh.

I don't oppose gay marriages. It's between the couple and if they love each other and want to get married, it shouldn't matter what gender they are.

I think you've made the MOST sense so far in your argument. Even though I can't ever think of myself as a homosexual, I would agree that if I were, I would want the same rights.

I've been arguing against gay marriages, but I've been persuaded by my own Mother that people need to be understood because of their differences instead of driven away in the dark. So far, your argument is the most persuasive, many times more so then people who say being against such union is "gross", "stupid", "disgusting". They're such hypocrites and is in no position to make those ignorant accusations.

Congress is about to vote on amending the U.S. Constitution to deny marriage equality to same-sex couples.

Never before has our Constitution been amended to take away anyone's rights. Yet our Senators will vote on this amendment in the next 48 hours.

It's urgent that we speak up now. This hateful divisiveness has no place in America. Please join me in saying so, at:

http://www.moveon.org/unitednotdivided/

Equality in marriage is the civil rights issue of our generation. We can't let anyone, or any group, be singled out for discrimination based on who they are or who they love.

Thank you.

I'm not opposed to it because...
1. I don't care
2. If you don't like the idea, then don't think about it.
3. It's their lives, not ours...

I don't know what religion they would be married under... Jesus was 'accepts everyone for who they are' but some people don't-- and some people are assholes and would rebel against it.

ditto.

1- it doesn't affect me
2- if their in love why try to stop it
3- georgia bush is a gay fag himself trying to hide it
4- it should be there choice

now if some people are reeeeally opposed to it, i think that it should be up to the state to whether they allow it or not. that way its still possible to get married. and if your that oposessed to living in the same state as them, you can move

I'm not against gay marriages. What homosexual couples wish to do is their own business. It doesn't decrease the human population. Tons of people are born everday. Besides for that to happen everybody would be gay. Homosexuals are a "minority", for lack of a better term. I personally would not want to interfere with someones happiness regardless of their sexual orientation. If a homosexual couple wants to get married then so be it. They are humans just like all of us and they deserve a chance at hapiness with their significant other.

Oh and please don't bite my head off... It's just my opinion. People here are way to sensitive.

hahaha...not all married couples have kids...whether it's their choice or because either of them are infertile....

shouldn't they be denied of tax breaks too?

and gay couples do sometimes adopt children

so i don't see why gay couples don't deserve tax breaks...

afterall, they pay income tax too

UH....

Have you TRIED to READ the other arguements? I've been on this debate for a while, and I don't remember anyone saying that they oppose it because it's illegal "and stuff".

Plently of people, including me gave reasonings and justifications. Please READ before saying something like this.

we're talking about gay marriage here

even if the government is going to ban gay marriage

there STILL will be..as you said, "gay people kissing and stuff like that."

I personally DON'T like too much PDA (public display of affection) of either sexual orientation...

groping, heavy making out in the public is a NO NO...and this applies to BOTH straight OR gay

technically, having a homosexual relationship is a SIN. (if u don't believe me check tha bible) because it isn't natural at all. for me, im not against gay/lesbian relationships at all. whatever floats your boat, but i just have to say it wasn't meant to be.

i've been reading some replies. and i've read from someone... forgot who but he/she said that gay people might teach others, their adopted children, to be gay//like the same sex! being gay is not a choice... it is a feeling. there have been people that i've seen who are starting to be "bi" ... like girls who kiss says they are and kiss other girls to attract boys, which is completely stupid! but being gay is not a choice. it's like me being a girl and liking boys, no one can tell me to like/have feelings for girls because i can't. it's difficult to explain... just open your mind.

Homosexuality may not be a choice, but marriage is definately a choice.

OK, who EVER said that gay people might teach others, or their adopted children, to be gay...IS AN IDIOT. That's impossible, I've live with my mom and HER GIRLFRIEND, for 6 years, and I'm still straight, you can't TEACH someone to be gay, it's a sexual preferance! You don't honestly think you can force someone to be attracted to a group of people sexually, do you?
"Like boys Johnny, like boys!" Nope...don't see it happening.

Hmm, I wasn't the one who said it, but I wonder, do you speak for everyone on earth? Or do you only speak for yourself in the case of not being taught to be gay?

What's impossible? That you can't be taught to be gay? You do read enough to know that the Nature v Nuture controversy hasn't been compromised yet right?

I know from personal experience, why isn't that good enough?
Obviously if a gay couple is trying to force they're children to be gay like them it's because they're screwed up in the head, not just because they're gay, because if all gay people did that, I'd be gay by now, right? As would you?
Because if that were true, don't you think those two women you saw kissing would've used their evil gay-rays of death on you too?
My mothers are gay and my girlfreind is bi so...
I'm sure there are homosexuals on this forum, if that were true, why havn't we been bombed with PMs threatening us to become gay?

Also that's your opinion, and you have a right to your opinion just like everyone else, but so do homosexuals, and if they get the rights to be married, you're just going to have to suck it up and deal.
As for comparing homosexuality to insest or adult/child relationships, thats like comparing apples and oranges, sure they're both fruit, but they're totally different.
Most children are too immature and ignorant to understand matters of love, and are often tricked into a relationship with a teacher or older adult, and can be mental damaging, same for insest, also insest causes horrible birth defects.
No one was really killed from homosexual sex or kissing, and sodomy isn't a homosexual thing, straight couples can sodomize each other as well.
You arn't being forced to marry a homosexual person, or forced to watch them have sex, so I don't see why you complain about seeing gay couples kiss, it was your choice to look, wasn't it?
