QUOTE(thedilenquent @ Mar 29 2004, 7:26 PM)
id rather be happy. if i were gay i wouldnt give... i wouldnt care what people thought of me. if i want to be with someone of the same sex then thats me and my lifestyle. i wouldnt want to be lonely because i wanted to go by what the law says. if i went by the law every day of my life. id be miserable

i don't understand, disobey the law as long as it makes you happy?

QUOTE
You keep comparing homosexuality with all these horrible things. There's a difference between legalizing something stupid like weed (which IS mind you, legal in some places), and legalizing something like marriage.

the point i'm trying to get across is that hapiness alone doesn't justify anything.

maybe they were treated wrongly or influenced when they were young and just cant help it. but in tv shows (will and grace) it seems as if gay people have a choice to be gay or straight.

how so? meaning maybe theyre parents were gay. or maybe they were abused.

i know and completely understand that but what im saying is if you place your self in the shoes of a homosexual and someone is telling you " oh hey you cant be with this person it isnt right" and what they see is the gender they dont understand the bond you and that person share. disobey the law and be happy... in this case its not robbing a bank and using the money to buy villa in key west. its not like killing someone or raping them to satisfy your own demented pleasure so you can be happy, this is about two people being together as "life partners" there is more to life than happiness these two people share something very strong where as its to the point where they are saying "eff it lets get married i need to be with you" and who are we to judge them? personaly i think that law is trifling and moreso unjust than helpful to the nation. who are we protecting with this law? is it our children? if thats the case we need to keep them locked in a closet away from the world because homosexuality is a part of this society and homosexuals dont want to be ignored any longer. it really pisses me off to see how some people can be so narrow minded

there is no right to be happy. there is the pursuit of happiness, but no right to happiness with laws.

i understand that. but i wouldn't disobey the law. the law just gives you a tax break and an official recognition that you are married. you are addressing it at an emotional standpoint. if you said let's get married, who would marry you?

that was the point i was going to get to next. its not about omg they are diffrent i hope they dont touch me" its more to it than that i believe that god does create each and everyone diffrent. i believe that my god is an equal oppertunist no sin is greater of the next. so the big deal we make about this wont mean much to him

why did god create satan? he did not intend on creating evil, but by satan's free will, he became evil.

i am tolerant of gay people. i just don't think they should get married.

im not opposed to it..but i dont don't get how "they" can like the same sex..im not gonna judge cause im not in their shoes..i think that now our society is more tolerant cause like i dunno 10-15 years ago finding out that someone was gay or knowing that someone was gay was REALLY bad but now nobody really cares...it's just a hot topic now because gays(no offense) are speaking out but sooner or later it'll blow over and it won't be such a big deal anymore...

I really don't like it, but hey, its not my life... If they allow people to drink, smoke, have abortion, why should I care if they have same sex marriages?

Saw this on T.V
"Its Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve"

so you are saying that homosexuals are the equivalent of satan and they are not to be trusted? i really think they were created to teach us tolerance, and they should be allowed to be married because after all, they are to be tolerated enough to the point that they remain the equivalent to anyone else. two people can have the same beliefs and yet one can be gay. homosexuality shouldnt be something to take away someone else's privileges. its not as if they are a diffrent species or anything, they are almost like anyone else, they are only a little different.

no. i'm saying god created us with free will, he doesn't dictate what we do. if he did, the world would be perfect. you aren't taking away any priveleges. they can still marry. just not to a person of the same sex.

i agree with kryogenix. he didnt "program" X% of the population so that they are gay. and i read in some magazine about how gay people wanted to be married that way they could stay with one each other for the rest of their lives. cant you do that without an official marriage? i mean, it does make it more meaningful and such, but is it really neccesary to have a government record (or whoever records these things)?

they could get married without getting official papers, but apparently, the tax break means a lot to them.

okay, i think you're assuming that if people are opposed to it, they think it's "gross"

....No, I'm assuming that the people that are opposed to it have no reason to because it is no one else's business. People should have the freedom to marry whomever they please. They should have a right to own a legal document that states that they are married. That's all it really is anyway.
