No, I do not. It costs more money to keep a man on death row than it does to sentence him to life in prison. On death row, people do appeal, after appeal, after appeal, and it's the citizens that have to pay for it. That and after the appeals process, it's like they've served a life sentence all ready.

I think that it was a fair decision. However, like missmata said, there's lots that comes with these decisions, and often capital punishment is more complicated. And since it's such a delicate subject, it's very hard to put borders on these kinds of things.

Take the Green River murders, for example. He killed 48 women and wasn't executed. Peterson killed 2 people (I mean, that's still a horrible thing) but he gets the death sentence. How is that fair?

Just...capital punishment makes things all complicated and confusing. Yes, I sound like an immature girl right now, but I don't really feel like thinking and giving reasons for this.

Gawd, the debate section tires me.

I agree.
I did a whole debate on this.

It costs more...plus the process is longer.

Just put him in life sentence.

;p

Yep.
Good job Califorina.
He diserves it.
This whole 'Oh well look at his mother she's crying and dying boo hoo hoo' is trash.
He did it.
I'm sorry. I can't feel bad for him. He did something wrong and he needs to be punished.

In the words of Ron White,
'You kill someone, we're gonna kill you back.'

What he said. ^ (That's days of frustration towards man kind speaking...)

I'm against capital punishment for the fact that it seems like the easy way out for criminals. They need to be stuck in a tiny cell poring over what they did and realizing that what they did is wrong, not have their lives ended and that's it. Again, capital punishment is the easy way out for the criminal and the hard way for the citizens.

i dont believe in the death penalty, so no. he was not a mass murderer. he was not a terrorist. they should let him live, and give him time to let the guilt kick in. torment him, drive him insane, but dont kill him

it costs about the same actually. and he really killed two people because of the unborn child. and he did it all to be with his girlfriend. if he didn't want to be with his wife, he should have just left her instead of killing her. you can't get anymore selfish than that. he deserves it.

Justice will be served if he's put in prison for the rest of his life. He'll be able to dwell on what he did until the day he dies.

That's justice according to those looking at the case on the outside. Justice is defined differently, depending on the individual. Therefore, "justice", in this case, should depends on what the family members because they are the ones who had been done wrong. So they are the only ones who can say what is justice to them.

Hahaha. thats bad. but did you know in mideval (incorrect spelling lol) times when they would slice the head with the gulloutine thing .... they would take the head.. and it would still have some oxygen in it... and they would show the head their own body and see what face expression does it have..

off that topic... lol

i think it would of been better if it was life....

you're technically still a bit a live after your head's chopped off, but you're in such deep shock you can't sense things, and the blood flows out.

and it's never been proven what happens.

I don't agree with the jury, even though what scott peterson did was just horrible-
+. I believe that the government should not take lives away..what are they proving anyway? scott peterson killed his wife and unborn child, but what does taking another life mean?
+. yes, i agree life in prison would have been the right thing for him, because he will die in prison eventually.
