wow, what a queer dresscode...
hmm, time to tell an adult. or if you dont want to do that, pass around a petition. they work most of the time, it did for my old school :]

My parents don't want to get involved in it and aparently you didn't read the whole thing... You get suspended for starting a petition.

no: the school is considered your 'guardian', not an extention of the government.

cheerleading and baskletball are out of school activites. the points of dress code ar enot toi distract you form learning, while cheerleaders are out side of school practice and games.

you don't have the right to petition your school, unless they give it to you.

if they have in thier school rules that you cannot petition, you just cannot.

school is not a democracy. the school has all the powers of your legal gaurdians (minus some) during the school day.

which means they can refuse you a number of rights.

ah. so if they take away your right to stand up for your rights, than how are you suppose to solve anything if your parents wont help? thats ridiculous.

you aren't.

it's a school. they can do what they want. as of now.

students don't have power.

a majority will have power.

( i think if you can get a lot of people tojust walk out of school, you'd acomplish something. expecially if those people went and protested in front of the school board's office.

I'm not talkinga bout while they're at games. I'm talking about the cheerleaders and jocks walking aroung the building going to classes in their "normal" clothes.

First Amendment rights say that you can where what ever you want as long as it does not offend anybody cuz if it did then it would be in turn rejecting there rights. So in actuallity they cant say you cant color your hair or where black etc. check your local ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union)

unnatural hair color?! that is the weirdest rule i've ever heard of. let people have whatever color hair they want. there's this kid in my school who has pink hair..haha he did it for fun. personally i think coloring your hair damages it, but that's just me.
i mean if your friend was gonna do it and you thought it would look stupid/weird/etc maybe you should tell them but yeah..the school shouldn't control that. that's up to the family/student.

its wrong about the 2nd part of your statement, but they have the right to keep kids from being their own, because they must make sure that kids don't distract the others...because it can be distracting!

but good luck to your issue or problem because it won't change..

At my school it depends who you are also but it's opposite of the way yours is. At my school the kids who wear black (my clique..) usually have a little more slack. My friend came to school with near hot pink hair and they never said anything. My hair's black and red and I know someone else who has blue hair (dark blue almost black but still blue) and we normally don't get in trouble. (This also depends on WHO sees you and what you're doing. If your on someone's bad side it could be trouble.) But one of the troublemaker/preppy kids came to school with reddish pink hair and got In School Suspension on the spot. That kid is also an F student who always disrupts class while my clique is a near straight A and quiet group. (At school atleast)

And with piercings it depends on what you have done. The school handbook says Ear piercing within reason and no facial piercings. My friend has her nose pierced and wears a small clear stud or fishing line in it just to keep it open and has not gotten anything for it.

School dresscode is basically anything within reason. Too short or not enough wont cut it and they'll take you to the office to call home to get a change. But if you can't get a hold of someone they provide you with clothes. (Normally very modest clothes.AKA Granma blouses and khakis.)

Our school values are kinda whacky but my school is selfish. Once you do something wrong they pull EVERYTHING out and will use anything against you sad.gif

I wish I went to your school. I'd be able to dye my hair pink, pierce my nose and wear the clothes that I want to be wearing. I got sent to my principal's office friday because I was wearing house shoes. The teacher that sent me there wasn't one of my teachers and I've never spoken to her before. She just hates the people that I'm hanging out with (the "goths"). She always comes over and picks out people that are hanging out with us and sends us to our principals for bullshit reasons. The couple of preppy kids that hang out with us wear house shoes all the time and they don't get introuble but the one day I was wearing pink fishnet and a black shirt that says "popularity is a social disease" I get in trouble. Most of the time I dress in clothes that are kinda preppy in style but goth in color (black, blood red, dark purple)...

i think thats not fair. no to affend you but i think they are complaining about the gothic people bc they seem like they wud be into worse things than preppy people while sometimes its not the case. the preppy ppl cud be the ones into bad stuff while the gothics arent. its stereotypical. u shud complain.

That's the ironic part. At least at my school the goths are the good kids who enjoy reading and intelligent conversations and the preps are the ones going out getting high every weekend. It is all stereotypes.

That sucks majorly. Normally people in my clique wear jeans and a black band tee of sorts. Once in a while we have a bizarre day where everyone will wear fishnets or something. The most we ever get is a teacher commenting on it and a lot of people telling us to go stand on the corner. Guess my school isn't as strict as I thought. mellow.gif

that is pretty much like my school dress code. but we are allowed to have our hair the color that we want. and we can wear whatever we want as long as it is not bad and doesn't show anything that would considered offensive. sorry that you have to deal with all that! pinch.gif

go to your parents. they should care that their child is being discriminated against because of the people she hangs out with.
If they don't do anything....
uhhh.....
......Get the media involved?????? Contact the local radio station or newspaper
I have no idea. I feel really bad fer you though. Young people should be able to express themselves.

All the more reason to look foward to college

now typically, our cheerleaders uniforms are fairly conservative for cheerleaders. however, at the unfortunate pep rally, i saw the competition cheerleaders, and they had really innappropriate midriff baring uniforms. i mean, its one thing to wear at competition, but they let them wear them in school, which i dont think it right

Man i feel so lucky our school practically does not even have a dress code... girls wear tubetops and guys wear shirts that says F&CKIN COLD (the U is not censored on their shirt) all the time and the admin. just ignore it.
