Gosh seriously. I didn't give anyone presents because of that. I hate that non-Christians celebrate Christmas, they don't know what the f**k it is. I don't care if Christmas is all about corporate whores making money, I'll celebrate it for what it is thank you very much, so I won't say "Happy Christmas." I'll say Happy Birthday Jesus.

Ok if you're not Christian, I respect that, but don't get f**king offended by my opinions already.

oh please... " happy birthday jesus ". there are people that dont believe in god, that aren't jewish either. so dont get on peoples cases about how they dont pray and worship god on Christmas Day. Why don't you stop being so closed-minded, and snap into reality? Not everyone that celebrates Christmas is Christian, they celebrate it to be with family and friends.

Actually it's a Pagan holiday. The traditions are all Pagan, but the origin is Christian because of the birth of Christ. You can celebrate Jesus' birth and not exchange gifts at all. Or you exchange gifts and do it the Pagan way and not ever remember the birth of Christ. Or you can do both; exchange gifts and remember "the reason for the season".

Happy Christmas, and don't be so bitter.

and i agree that the people who doesnt believe in the birth of christ shouldnt celebrate christmas. and yeah, the fact that they are celebrating something they dont believe in piss me off too.

Damn it, I'm sick of you Christians who choose to ignore people's posts on purpose just so you can have your say.

Listen here buddy, WE NON-CHRISTIANS ARE NOT CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS, we celebrate our own way for our own purpose on that date. Blame the Pope for picking a day that was already celebrated by Pagans for the purpose of converting them.

You people piss me off because you think that Christ was born that day when the Bible doesn't even say anything of the like. Find me a verse that says Christ was born on Dec. 25th. THEN, AND ONLY THEN, CAN YOU SAY THAT NON-CHRISTIANS SHOULDN'T celebrate the day as we like.

But even then, you Christians would look awefully evil for not sharing a damn day with your fellow man.

and what is the purpose of that day for u? to give and recieve presents for no apparant reason? if thats what christmas is to u, then its nothing more than a day where u give and take items.

if ur not celebrating christmas, then what r u celebrating? why do u complain about "not sharing a damn day with your fellow man" if ur not even celebrating christmas?

the Bible is all about faith. the Bible says how we should live, what God and Jesus have done for us. not an explaination to why we should believe. believing doesnt need an explaination nor proof. and because Christians believe that Christmas was the day Jesus was born, theres nothing more to it. we dont need proof because its apart of our faith in God.

The purpose of feasting, of family, of vacationing is enough for me, thank you very much.

People may not have a reason for giving YOU a gift, but they give me presents with little notes of appreciation and love. I'm sorry if you don't get anything of the like because it seems that you don't think they are reason enough.

It's just a day like any day for me except for a little more fun and excitement. I have a right to celebrate it as I want. If you disagree, tell me why.

QUOTE

The "damn day" I was refering to is December 25th, not the day of Christ's birth. For all your love of Christ, you do not know the day that he was born, but rather you celebrate a day that was taken from people who celebrate centuries before.

Note that I said "EVEN THEN", which ties into my original thought that even if Christ was born on Dec 25th you Christians should be sharing the festivities instead of frowning upon us.

QUOTE

I've not said that the Bible gives an explanation to why you should believe nor did I said anything about needing proof for what you believe. What you're saying is completely irrelevant to our discussion as I'm NOT attacking you on why you believe as you do.

You may believe what you like about that day, however, what you believe doesn't change the fact that, HISTORICALLY, the day doesn't belong to Christians.

You don't need proof or explanation for it to be a part of your faith, then why do you Christians demand an explanation as to why we want to celebrate on that day? Quid pro quo. My answer to you is, we non-religious affiliates are free thinkers. We do what we like and so long as it's within human moral standard, why would it matter to you what we do?

yes, i understand that, but it was hard to think wacko.gif with a house full of people laughing and talking. not to mention the a tv blaring in my ear.

okay. i`m christian. i celebrate christmas as BOTH. christ`s birth and giving gifts and recieving them. but it pisses me off how everyone is yelling and bitching about this. to YOU christmas might be about christ`s birth, but to someone else it might be a day to share with family and to be in a generous giving mood. or to show affection. sure that can be done on other days but still, if people celebrate it that way too, it doesn`t make them wrong and it doesn`t mean that they don`t have a right to celebrate the holiday too. it doesn`t just have to be about recieving, it is about giving. to show affection to other people. i think that is just enough of a good reason to celebrate any holiday. respect other people. i mean i would hate to think of what kind of topic is going to come around near easter. sure to CHRISTIANS like myself it`s about christ`s ressurection, but to someone else it could just really be about eggs and candy. so what? let them celebrate what they want. who are YOU to say what is the right or wrong way to celebrate christmas or any other holiday for that matter? if you think a certain way is right, then good for you, keep thinking that, and celebrate it that way. but don`t bitch at the other people who aren`t doing it the same exact way as you. christmas is supposed to be a happy holiday too and by all of this fighting, it doesn`t exactly spread the christmas joy, whether it be christ`s birth or the joy of giving. also in response to this: you are celebrating something you dont believe in..
if you dont believe the birth of christ, then why celebrate its birthday? they are different ways to celebrate a holiday and different meanings a holiday can take, therefore they could be celebrating something else they DO believe in, like spreading joy around by giving gifts and spending time with loved ones... alright i think i should stop ranting now.

I'm not even Christian nor am I Catholic, so I don't really KNOW much about the birth of Christ. You know, I don't give a rat's arse about gifts right now. I wanted to spend time with the people I love (mainly my half-sister, my mom, and my boyfriend), but things didn't turn out that way. I don't care about gifts... I just wanted to spend time with them.. My real sister female-doged at my mom so much and ditched her and she made my mother cry and crap, and I felt so bad because I didn't even know how to make her happy again. My half-sister (who lives in New Hampshire) couldn't get me a ticket to go to Concord and visit her where there's SNOW, and I was so disappointed. And most of all, I didn't even get to spend Christmas with my boyfriend, nor did I get to see him xmas eve or anything.

Christmas to me is about spending time with the ones you love the most, and showing them how much you appreciate them, not about gift-giving. We live in such a materialistic world, and we lost sight of what matters the most; whether it be god / birth of Christ, or giving (doesn't have to be something tangible) to those you care about the most or those less fortunate and show them that there are people who care.

I should listen to my own advice and donate to the poor for Christmas... ermm.gif

EDIT wow, I concur with uninspiredfae. worthy.gif and HAPPY HOLIDAYS. Bleh, I'm late. And yea I heard that there hasn't been any proof found about the birth of Christ occurring on December 25th. That's why some stores don't put up Christmas decorations because they have different views.

I think you are too overzealous and protective of your holidya. I think despite the fact that some people do not celebrate Christmas for it's original reasons, as long as they celebrate it earnestly and for the love of their fellow human, it's what Jesus would have wanted.

To speak honestly, overzealous christians that are condescending and overbearing is what turns people off from religion and what gives Christians a bad name.

I thought santa died on the cross...

That'd make more sense and slightly justify christmas and it's ways, right?

A fat white man died so that we could glorify he's choosen life of obvious gluttony.

Come on, Santa for Lord and Savior! He's got my vote! wink.gif

When has Jesus ever given you free gifts? That's right. And where is he when you wanna sit on his lap? Mmhmm, time to rethink some things.

okay WELL, first of all!!! jesus DID in fact give us a gift. it is the gift of his son and grace , and this is probably the best gift anyone can receive.

THere are non-christians here, and im going to respect that. im not going to say that you guys cant celebrate christmas either.

Besides, it's been shown that Jesus' birthdya wasn't even around christmas. and that we choose this specific date based on old pagan rituals involving the winter solstis
