Greater Suicides during Holiday Season, why analysists are right on this theory Options

well.....usually Christmas and the Holiday season would be of time of joy and happiness......but ...2 weeks ago...our class has been reading the famed novel "Catcher in the Rye".....and the thoughts and theme of this depressing book ...and how the book takes place during the holiday season ...... .ive recently got teachers thoughts.....that Christmas time could be one of the most depressing times for most people, an that the suicide rate is increased during this time .........

well....ironically .......it just happened yesterday, when a sophomore , shot himself with a gun..at the night of dec 7 .. i wouldnt expect that it would really happen.......and being in a new school and all and having to not know the kid really affected me and changed views in my life......it not only shocked me .....it gave me new sense of direction......"if u have something to value, enrich and protect it as though...you will never let go"...it reminded me back during 9/11 ...when everyone in my old school were allowed to leave the classroom to talk to counselors and leave school....since i used to live closer to nyc.......i dont think it would be a happy season in my school......including to the families and close friends to the person who died.........i guess......things like these will happened to everyones lives......including to the most happiest people....

my friend's friends commited sucide last week. i met him once...he was nice. it was so sad.

one of my friendz died like a year ago frum my old skewl..so yea...idk...i used 2 think about suicide but i went to counseling and now i am super happy..

I don't know anyone who's ever committed suicide, nor have I ever heard about anyone that went to my school that has. But a cool friend of mines's aunt (I believe), committed suicide. I believe she was a single mom, it hard to remember... But when he talked about this in class, when we had a debate... it was terrible. A girl went outside to get some air as tears went down her face, as my friend (who is a guy) told about his aunt.

In my opinion, I think that those who committed suicide didn't realize how big an impact they had on other's lives. No matter what, there will be people out there that care about them, that are affected. Even if everything seems to go all wrong and you just want to die, thinking no one cares, but there really are people who care about you.

My friend's aunt had children.. and he told the class "She just killed herself.. She was so selfish.. I mean, she didn't even think about her CHILDREN!" He said something like that, I'm just paraphrasing. I mean, I know that if I killed myself, I would be getting rid of all my grief, but also, I would hurt the ones I love the most. My boyfriend, whom I've given so much of my love to, would be sad... I know that if he died, I would be in a melancholy state for the rest of my life. And my mother, who's depended on me so much, and I've depended on her so much; I'm helping her now around the house and I want to take care of her in the future, and she's taken care of me since I was a baby. I might even affect my friend's lives because usually I'm a happy person around them.

Even if people act as if they are truly happy, deep down, there MIGHT be a flaw in their happiness. They might be depressed deep down and they might put on a mask to hide their depression and/or adversity.

It's terrible that anyone would commit suicide.. I don't fully blame suicidals for how much they've affected others; things just didn't turn out the way they wanted and they just couldn't handle it... It's traumatic.

Suicides during the holidays is the truly sad. Kids in school who kill themselves around this time, make it worse for people around them. Families losing their loved ones around the holiday that's supposed to bring families together.

Suicide is the easy way out. If you no longer wish to face your demons, you take your own life. Along with taking your own life, you take others, too. They aren't physically dead; but they are dead on the inside. The mother, the father, the friends, the family, the siblings, the significant other, the children, these people are all affected by one person's decision. If you are thinking about taking your life, think about the people it will affect. Don't do it. Tell somebody about it, somebody you can trust. Get some help. One life can affect many.

There was this guy at my school. And I would see him around the halls when we would switch classes. He was a very close friend of basically all my friends. I never had the chance to be close to the dude. But I knew he was a good person, even on our varsity team.

So one day February 29, 2004, We all got called to the auditorium where we were informed that he had died from shooting himself. The pain I saw in all my friends was just painful itself to see. Our school isnt that big, everyone knows each other and is cool with each other, and when he passed away it was like the world stopped. Even for those who had not known him personally.

"Suicide is a long term solution, to a short term problem."

The idea of suicide itself is usually not only intended for the people who are going to do it to themselves but also intended for those close to the person. The person doing the act usually is asking for one last help before he is going to do it. And if that help does not come. The act of suicide is to be a point splattered to all those he knows that you have failed to notice the signs, failed to act, and failed to see the victim was in pain. So you can say... Suicide itself is selfish.

This is not the case for every suicide but it also usually is the case for a considerable amount of suicides.

like they say... you either help the person in need. Or your just part of the problem!

well then explain this to me,, ive had suicidal thoughts before, even when my life is perfect but my thoughts of killing my self was because life is boring,,,,, or like... i wonder wtus on the side and i dont feel like waiting to find out... and i understand its a weakness but somtimes its somthin that you just have to do... how bout ritualistic suicde? thats all about strength and loyalty, that must take alot of strength to do. outz*

ANYWAYYY.. some guy in middle school killed himself... he jumped off a building. it was all over the news.

and.. sometimes suicide can be extremely selfish. i mean.. sometimes.. if you're killing yourself just because you want attention.
i only feel suicidal when my mood swings are making me extremeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeely sad.

No one at my skool has committed suicide...there's just been a TON of fights lately. It's not my friends tho. I don't have very many drama-queen-ish friends.. (The fights are usually the drama queens at my skool)

That's what I do. But no one can tell. But my depressing periods usually goes away after a while. I just put on a smile and act happy for the well-being of others around me. But I don't get depressed frequently, just like once or twice in a range of one to five years.


I just reread what I wrote, and to me it sounds as if I actually thought about suicide. I am not going to commit suicide, I just get depressed, but suicidal thoughts do not roam about my head. Again, I just get depressed.
