Smoking in public places, .............. Options

i don't think that people should be allowed to smoke on privately owned properties that are public service buildings... ie movie theaters, malls, restaurants, etc. but if they want to smoke outside, that is fine. i don't like the smell of cigarette smoke trapped indoors :[

Those aren't "public service buildings". Restaurants exist to make profits, not provide a "public service". If they were there to provide a public service, the meals and such would be free.

It's also your responsibility to get off your lazy ass and ask for a different seat/booth or to ask your guest to not smoke at your house. Maybe smoking should be banned outdoors too. What if I was smoking outside next to a family? Obviously they would move away instead of staying there if they really didn't want to inhale the fumes from my cigarette. Therefore what is the difference in moving to a different seat in a restaurant if the smoke carries to where you sit? Anyways there is usually no one really smoking in a restaurant unless that restaurant has a bar. So basically we can only smoke indoors in our own house. Yes that will fly very easily with smokers who need their nicotine when they are far from home. Even though I am a non-smoker, I don't think this is a real big issue. I mean you have the choice to stay and the choice to move or act upon the smoker.

i would know because i live in a townhouse and our houses are stuck together and my mom smokes about 2 cigerettes every 30 minutes.

Smoking should be banned at resturants because the smokers are putting the non-smoker's health in danger. I've been in a returant that allowed smoking. It's a nuisance to smell smoke while eating food and then choking on your food because you can't hold your breath any longer.

Smokers claim they have the right to smoke, but how about the non-smokers? Do the non-smokers have a right not to inhale in the smoke?

I dislike smoking a lot. The smokers are slowing killing themselves, plus the people around them. Sorry, no offense but smokers are literally like murderers.

I think smoking should be banned in resturants. You can't enjoy your meal if you're constantly smelling smoke. It should also be banned in all public indoor places.

Now, a bar is a place you go for a beer and a smoke.
A resturant is a family place.
In resturants they have certain places where you can be seated if you would like to smoke. You don't like that? Go to another place or come home and freaking cook yourself.

I'm sorry, that's a public place, and you can smoke in public. Hey, if you can smoke outside which is public, why not smoke inside!?
Also, if they ban smoking in resturants, they lose bussiness and money. So bad idea.

All I am going to say is that after seeing the cadaver of a smoker for my Anatomy class I am against smoking EVEN more than before. If many of you got to see what smoking does to a person's lungs I'm pretty sure you'd stop... I mean, come on people. DO you really want to walk around barely able to breath and with your lungs rotting black? It is just disgusting.

As for banning smoking in public places, I have my exceptions. Concerning restaurants, there are plenty of different places that do not allow smoking, so if one does, just get out and let those that are there kill each other with that nasty smoke. For places like public parks, stadiums and such, then yes, it should be banned because there are children and whatnot that go to try to enjoy a good sports game or just have fun in the park and they have to deal with second hand smoke. That's not fun. I'm also against drinking in stadiums, but that's another story.

I would love for the government to ban smoking completely and stop companies from making cigarettes.

But at the very least, don't allow smoking in public places.
I hate going to night clubs and breathing in cigarette smoke all night.

I hate even more people who smoke around children, especially other people's children, in a public place. Its really inconsiderate.

Oh come on.
They need to leave it up to the resturant and bar owners to decide this.
This gives you the choice if you want to go some place smoking or non-smoking.

i do think it should be bannned from public places. seccond hand smoke is more dangerous than just plain smoking. seccond hand smoke can kill, so therefore, smoking in public areas is murder.

yep, smoking should just be allowed outside, NOT around other people, and definitely not inside restaurants..that annoys me so much. it's bad for other people's health.
