some of the asians i know arent that smart so i never really say anything.... i play ddr at school and people started calling me asian boy cuz im so good and i was getting ticked..
im a hispanic! ahhh. |

i don't really mind; i mean, it can only work to my advantage. i don't think that it's the asian race that is intelligent.. it's just that most of the asians who had the ambition and money to immigrate to the United States were determined scholars. also, it might have something to do with the way asian kids are raised. they're taught to value knowledge, learning, and hard work.. for example, in china, scientists and college professors are very highly respected.

i dont like stereotyped...im asian and ppl think i always get A's on everything..which is not true..lol...well i get A's most of the time, but a lot times i get B's..

yeah, that is how most of the people at my school think about asians. but i think that asians are just as smart as other people. but at my school, 3/4 of our ping-pong club and over half of my tennis team are asian!

the reason why we call it sterotypical is based on the fact, people get mad then that's their problem, the description doesn't have any offending meaning in it, i won't care if people call me stereotypical, i would even take it as a compliment

Teachers don't pick on me as much because they think by the fact that I do the work that I don't need to prove anything to them. I'm not smart--I just do the work lol. I am flattered that people would think that Asians are more intelligent... Although I agree with Mindy about the fact that Asian immigrants came here, determined to achieve their goals and have a good education. Also, I've heard that back in Asia, school and education is a lot tougher than here. It just really depends, that's all. |

well said...but yeah a lot of people have that stereotype in their minds where i am too...but not as much as i've seen in other schools. the teachers don't have that mindset though...just students. |

I get mad depending on how they come to me. Like,
"OMG, you need to help me b/c I don`t get this!!" Me: "I don`t know either." "You liar!! You`re like super smart!" Me: "How so?" "Because all Asians are supposed to be smart!!" I should be flattered in a way, but people shouldn`t judge others because they`re Asian, or because they`re black, hispanic, etc. If you`re smart, then you`re smart. You`re smart because you study and do all that. ..but gyeah, I don`t care - as long as they don`t approach me with annoying nonsense matter. :P |

hahaha, well im the editor of the features page in our school newspaper and we did an article on this and other sterotypes, this was the positive stereotype for asians, the negative was how bad we drive hahahaha

yeah me too, im just talking about asians in general esp. the ones that just came from asia, even my parents agree b/c they know how they drive there...cars come first before pedestrians
