WROOOOOONG.

The new Metal Gear game is a CARD GAME.

It looks so dumb.
*

-_-;;

Oh really? I think you're wrong. From what I read it never mentioned that.
It's called "Metal Gear Ac!d" and Hideo from what I read in an interview never mentioned it was some stupid card game. The screenshots look exactly like Metal Gear Solid/Twin Snakes. Are you mistaking that for Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories?

I obviously don't see a card system in this screenshot. I'll wait until I hear it directly from Hideo then I'll believe it. KTHXBYE!

Now before I do this, Id just like to say that maybe this isnt done by Hideo, but its pretty damned accurate.
QUOTE
When we have decided to create a "METAL GEAR" game for the PSP, we thought of the following:
It should be a game that works best as a game for a portable game system.
Additionally, it should be a new game for the new system.

The new form of "METAL GEAR" we are presenting you is a "METAL GEAR that is not an action game".
The new element making this possible is "cards".
Using cards means the player must "customize" his/her abilities and strategies.
Cards = the player's weapon + abilities.
in "METAL GEAR ACID", the player "edits" his/her weapons and abilities to fight in a way best fitting that particular level.

The player's mission is still that of infiltration. Unique characters appear in a grand, original story.
While methods of expression differ, this still is "METAL GEAR".

The fusion of the well-known "METAL GEAR" series and totally new gameplay --
"METAL GEAR ACID" is a title completely different from the "METAL GEAR SOLID" series.
From where? Straight from the Konamii Japan website for Metal Gear Ac!d. Metal Gear Ac!d English

Yeah, I saw this too. I heard the reason is the hardware can't support a ps2 metal gear like game, so they had to make it a turn based card game.

if so, that raises questions about the big hardware gap that most sony fans tout.

Another thing, the bottom button on the PSP is not responsive, in fact, Sony head Ken Kutaragi admits that this will be a problem that the users will have to adapt to.

It's kinda sad that the users have to adapt to the problem rather than Sony fixing the problem.

EVERYONE and their duck knows that much...

What fewer people know is that the DS can do about as much, sans the graphics capabilities. Plus the fact that it has more of an SP style makes the screen less able to be scratched, and the product more durable overall.

man, ken kutaragi is a real jerk. when asked about the psp's button sticking problem, this is what he said:

QUOTE
Kutaragi was unapologetic about the issue: "This is the design that we came up with. There may be people that complain about its usability, but that's something which users and game software developers will have to adapt to. I didn't want the PSP's LCD screen to become any smaller than this, nor did I want its machine body to become any larger.

"The button's location is [architectured] on purpose," Kutaragi added. "It's according to specifications. This is something that we've created, and this is our specification. There was a clear purpose to it, and it wasn't a mistake."

Offering additional testimony praising the handheld, Kutaragi said, "I believe we made the most beautiful thing in the world. Nobody would criticize a renowned architect's blueprint that the position of a gate is wrong. It's the same as that."

If I was a Sony customer, I would be offended. He pretty much blames the user for pointing out a mistake, claims that the problem was part of the design, and that the PSP is the most beautiful thing in the world. Way to be humble.

You know though, the PSP requires you to buy a memory stick to play music. Sounds like it's going to be more money going into it for features that should already come with it. Sony never gives you the full package at one time... i don't get that...

uh oh, kyro and thunder got their gamefaces on, i know they're ready for this thread. tongue.gif

Anyway i would actually go for the psp, because the ds doesnt really appeal to me.
the touch screen is cool and everything, but only up to a certain point. Think of my opinion like this, you get a really cool game (metroid for example) and everything is good, but the controls are horrible, because they wanted to use the touch screen in a way, forcing you to use the stylus. (or in my case my finger cause they one on display doesnt work too well...) What really pisses me off about games are the controls, especially if u have an awesome game where everything else is good, except the controls.

Also, who said that it plays ps1 and ps2 dvds/cds? You are dead wrong, it uses their own Universal Media Disks/UMD for short. im not too sure about the media stick and how thats going to work. The battery life though, i wasnt surpirsed when i heard it was going to be that short. None of Sonys products have good B.Life. The Vaio im on right now only gives me about 30 minutes of battery life.

The games, there are going to be a hell lotta games for both handhelds, and they are going to be great. Last time i checked or the psp, there were alot of compaines getting ready for it, over 50 developers.

The DS im not too sure about though, all the games i saw were made by nintendo or an affiliate of nintendo, they included Super Mario 64 DS, Super Mario DS, Super mario kart and others. Ds is getting NFSU 2 though, but psp is getting NFSU but a different psp only version.

The graphics, i heard the comparison was that DS had N64 graphics, while the PSP is similar to Dreamcasts. Im not so sure though about that either.

And people, yes its true DS is going to have wi-fi multiplayer. Up to 16 or more i think. But psp has wi-fi plans too, i think i saw 32 somewhere, but i have a feeling that thats too much, im pretty sure its lower than that though.

But if i had to choose, i would go for the PSP.

You don't have to use the stylus in metroid hunters, you can use the dpad... but i find that the stylus best replicates the feel of playing a fps.

the memory stick is for saving your progress on. Sony is using all proprietary media, which means you can't opt for more inexpensive options.

You forget that GBA cartridges work with the DS too. Which is why I plan to buy one, because I missed out on the GBA/SP.

I would rather prefer PlayStation Portable Console. Because it is a modern, 3D console experience to a mobile platform and because it doesn't only play games, but also music and movies. _smile.gif

You just described the DS as well. And just as with the PSP you have to have certain acessories.

Heard this. The problem is not with the DS. It's with the crappy TV that has poorly shielded electronics. ANY device will cause interference with a non-shielded TV. EMF will do this, be it from your microwave, your computer or your nintendo DS. This happened to someone with the stoneage rabbit ear antennae TV. It is not likely to happen to someone with cable/satellite or a properly sheilded TV.

Don't spread FUD.

don't judge a book by it's cover. the psp may look good out of the box, but once that screen gets scratched, it's going to be ugly.

News: "Nintendo's latest handheld games device, the DS, also comes with a version of wi-fi built-in, and Mr Iwata said Nintendo will offer a free net connection service to DS owners, enabling them to play games against each other at no charge."

DS will have compatability with the revolution, and online play will not require a subscription fee. Awesome!

No offense, but how can you be such a mindless sheep? It's this kind of mentality that hurts competition and innovation. "I realize that product x malfunctions and is of poor quality, but since i'm a product x person, I'll buy it anyway!" This is why Sega went out of business.

*BUMP*

Ahhhhh! I've already had my debate in this topic soo anyway....

I am this close--> | | to getting one. I know I said (in the beginning of this topic) I was gonna pre-order it............
I have the money. I know I want it. But I just got a fcking Apple Powerbook.

And as for the whole "DS has better games" thing.......

there are RUMORS that Monkey Island might make it on to the DS. That bit of news is QUITE frustrating. AHHHH!!!!!!!
