i was wondering how some people are able to both disable right clicking and also prevent anyone from viewing their source? also, how to make it so that you can't even highlight any of the text. i thought it had something to do with the span tag but i'm not sure.

There aren't any code that prevent ppl from viewing your source. People will and always get to see your source.
