My most recent topic was closed, because it was considered an advertisement. Although I admit that it linked to another site, I don't consider it to be an advertisement. Considering that this is a forum for off-topic discussion, I considered this topic to be perfectly acceptable. Anyone care to offer more insight?

Well I guess, promoting yourself.

You're not advertising a product that you want to sell or something, but thing is, by putting the ipod referral link-->you want people to click to get you that ipod. It's advertising in a sense because you're benefiting from it, hence it's advertising.

Advertising: A public promotion of some product or service

Leads to spam.
If advertisement was allowed, CB would be even more filled with idiocy.

your ipod thing was advertisement because its for self benefit, i suppose.
it is advertisement, to think of a way as an answer to your question.

Think of this first, "Would I see this as one of those annoying pop ups?"

i think there should be a forum where people can post links to their sites that are not xangas for reviews. or post links to sites they like to share with people.

psh. you're thread isn't even debatable if it was adverting or not. It's so plain and simple that it was advertising. Advertising for yourself. Advertising for freeipods.com.

[edit] Yes, the Lounge is for off-topic discussion, but your post didn't 'discuss' anything. You just wanted people to get referrals from you, while you offer to make pics for people in return. The Lounge is not a freekin' marketplace. Go to ebay for that.

You distinctly said "-I have researched this site for quite some time and am convinced it is not a scam. But, I need five offers completed in order to get an iPod. In return for you completing an offer, I will give you a Gmail invite and I will make 3 web signatures for you."

You said that yourself. You're advertising, not only for that website, but also for your own gain because you will receive enough referrals to get an iPod. But who said that you are allowed to advertise for another site?

Posting a thread for the sole purpose of advertising is not allowed. personal pages are only allowed in your signature, and company pages are only allowed for purposes of providing information.

I don't think we need to discuss this issue any further. If you have any further questions, please PM me about it, rather than having to create a new topic about it.
