I've done pageants, taken AND taught modeling classes, etc...just make sure to watch out for scams. There are SO many of them out there. Just a tip--if they want money from you up front, make sure to find out exactly what it's for. Remember, modeling agencies are supposed to pay YOU. Not the other way around.

You don't have to be 5'9" to be a runway model. There aren't any "requirements" or "rules" to become a runway model, just so long you've been successful elsewhere and people want you. You could be 5'4" and still walk, providing people want you. Take Kate Moss, one of the most famous models in the world. She's only 5"6' (don't quote me on that, I'll have to look it up. Plus models always lie about their height, so it's never accurate on the internet) and she walks the runway as a fashion icon. You don't need to be a giraffe to be a model.

Just ask yourself what kind of modelling you want to do. Actual high fashion modelling? Well, you have to be tall and have a unique face to do that. Or do you just want to appear in small editorials for teen magazines? You could be any size for that. Plus the Rampage contest is awesome if you want to do that. =))

I'd advise you to do a LOT of research of agencies, designers, models, etc. If you appear knowledgable, you will be knowledgeable about the industry and everything about it. Just look out for scams, and make sure the agencies are credible. If you want to hit it big, move to New York or Paris, as you will have TONS more luck there.

Good luck =)

I modeled maybe 6 or so years ago for Jean Machine and Clothestime. I did several fashion shows in malls across Maryland, DC, and Virginia and that was pretty much it. It wasn't that fun, the girls were very catty, and I didn't get to keep any of the clothes. But I did get discounts. biggrin.gif

hehe, Thanks guys. =] I just have to pay $20 for the contest for something I forgot. >_< I just know that it's legit though and not a scam. I just want to be like 'prepared' I guess you can say that if I do win I'll know what to do. ^_^ Also, if I like the idea of modeling that I could look for agencies like what you said. =] I'd never have thought of agencies at all if you guys hadn't mentioned it. hehe =P

I've actually done something called window modeling. its free, and kind of random. you literally pose in a wondow of a store. i was 12.
but, i also was accepted into The JRP actinga dm mdoeling academy, but didnt accept their offer. Modeling is tough. It is not as easy as it looks. You have to be very pgotogenic--doesnt matter how pretty you are in real life-and usually have to be of a certian height [5'8 for cat walk] but for just regular photo, its probably more about being photogenic.

i've done modeling and actually still doing that now.. you've got to be open and not shy at all! be able to stay at a pose thats hard to be steady at lol and it pays pretty good. not something i'd do as a career just as a part-time thing for extra cash... if you can make it go for it.

Windsor Pilates i have that and i tried it a coiple of time and thats about it i can't do it, its hard... if you can do that then try it...and ProActiv haven't tried it and i would if i didn't had to order it...

hope this helps.

ohhh like where u have to wear 3 inch heels and stand on one lag and have you hands up for the photo shoots man thats hand to keep still with.. and if your talking about the catwalk kind those are fun just have confidence when you walk and they'll see that and remember to smile on the catwalk but don't smile in the pictures hehe unless its asked. you gotta have this attitute to it.

I am in a different situation...
I'm taller than 5'7, cause that was my haight the last tiem I measured which was... a while ago.
Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE tells me that I should be a model, even a lady who is a model instructor person!! So I am kinda like... eh, I dunno. I might want to, I think it would be fun, and a good discipline for me, because I know it's not all fun and games. But I also am not into modeling my body away... and nowadays it seems like that is all the kind of models ppl want.
So I am kinda of.... undecided. pinch.gif
But yeah, what do you guys think?

i think rampage is pretty legit.. just be careful, cuz there a lot of scumbag scammers out there. also, make sure it's your sort of "scene." and prepare to be criticized.
