okay. kind of a dumb question...

but...

what exactly is direct linking? like... i see on a bunch of sites "please do not direct link". what exactly does it mean?

i know, i know. dumb question. but it never hurts to ask, right?

and is this in the right section? blink.gif

meaning dont use the same button url i cant reallie explain it ummm lets see like if you want to link some one upload the button to your own server instead of right clicking on the pic and selecting properties and putting it on the code, sry ime bad at explaining

Direct linking is...let's see how I can explain this.

You know how you can go to a site/fanlisting and there are a whole bunch of pictures/banners you can use to link with on your site? What "no direct linking" means is that you can't right-click the picture, go to properties, and then copy the link and use it. That's direct-linking.

To upload to your own server means to save the image onto your computer, and use some sort of image uploading website to get your own URL for the image. That's what you should do if the site says "no direct linking". If you direct link, you're stealing bandwidth, which isn't allowed.
