since i know you guys are oh soo smart and oh soo good (hehehe compliments always work shifty.gif ) i was wondering i have to write speach on Edgar Allen Poes' Poem "Eldorado" i ws wondering how would you interpret it??

Gaily bedight,
A gallant knight,
In sunshine and in shadow,
Had journeyed long,
Singing a song,
In search of Eldorado.

But he grew old--
This knight so bold--
And o'er his heart a shadow
Fell as he found
No spot of ground
That looked like Eldorado.

And, as his strength
Failed him at length,
He met a pilgrim shadow-
"Shadow," said he,
"Where can it be--
This land of Eldorado?"

"Over the Mountains
Of the Moon,
Down the Valley of the Shadow,
Ride, boldly ride,"
The shade replied--
"If you seek for Eldorado!"

i love this poem and already have an opinion but i dont want it to influence your reaction... so thanks ^________^

Mmm...isn't it obvious? I mean, you'd have to be pretty brain dead if you didn't know what Eldorado is. When I read it, I imagine a man in search of Eldorado, but obviously unable to reach it because it's nonexistent.

uhm... people usually start off bold and strong, in search of whatever they're searching for, but over time, they're discouraged because they can't find what they seek. They have no peace of mind and the only way to obtain understanding is to keep riding high through death?

That's my 25 cents
