yes i believe it is okay..if only the person is doing it for the RIGHT reasons..not to impress other people..if they have truly thought about it and want to do it for themselves, then it would be okay

Some people just don't know what other people are going through or what their motives are, so you really shouldn't be so quick to judge... -_-

that's how i try to think of things..

In general, I'm against plastic surgery. People are not satisfied with what they have. However, if plastic surgery is helping a person for health reason - like a really obese person lose weight (the ones that can't even walk anymore), then I'm all for it.

I think it's fine... people can do whatever they want with their bodies. And sometimes you need a little change in your body to be a bit more happier. As long as you know that it's a risk you're taking, then there's really nothing to argue about. cool.gif

umm not exactly.

some people who go in for surgery are really unhappy and very self conscious....they get plastic surgery for THEM not for society.

i personally would not go under the knife unless it benifitted to my health. for example, breast reduction for back problem...rhinoplasty, for blocked nasal passages...etc.
i also however, think that if you can do something to make you feel better about yourself, then why not? it's just that people go a little to far.
it's kind of like, messing with nature.

i agree with her ^

some plastic surgery can be used for medical reasons, like if there was an accident, or horrid burns marks.

certain motives i believe are wrong to get plastic surgery, like to impress someone. i think that is wrong. but if its truly for yourself than its fine. as long as its not overdone

psh.. I wouldn't mind a nose job myself wink.gif

I think it's okay in certain situations..like, let's say a person lost a lot of weight and then had all this extra skin, or maybe they were born severely disfigured or had some sort of accident. But I think these new reality shows about plastic surgery are just sick, and if you're doing it for purely cosmetic reasons, that's wrong.

Fixing people's appearance from accidents by plastic surgery is not a medical reason. It's still appearance and people do it to look just like everyone else and so they don't get stared at. Plastic surgery is basically a cosmetic thing. Breast reduction also known as mastectomy (mast meaning breast and ectomy meaning removal of) can still be performed by someone who is not a plastic surgeon. There are many different kinds of surgeons for specific procedure. May I quote my health occupations book. "A plastic Surgeon is a surgeon specializing in cosmetic procedures." It's cosmetic. Just like elba said. You shouldn't judge a person's motives.

There are dieticians for obese people. Plus obesity is a lifestyle choice, they can choose not to be obese.

its not really cheating cause plastic surgery isnt always the perfect solution.

like: teeth whitening strips. your original color comes back in 6 months in fact it says it on the box

lasic eye surgery. you still might have to wear glasses if your eyes are bad enough. and your eye sight isnt perfect still

botox. your wrinkles come back.

plastic surgery is just a temporary solution to some people and its not always perfect.. but some people do minor things and thats fine ... but changing your whole body thats outrageous.

Well, it all depends on who is getting it. It also depends on why a person is getting it. Plastic surgery is not a clear cut issue, and it is different for each person who gets it.

I think it depends on the person. I personally am getting my nose done in the near future. My parents agree with me too. I don't want my nose too look a celebritys or anything like that. I just have a little bone which sticks up & that looks like a little hump on my nose :x and I would just like the surgery to fix that. I think that is good enough reason because technically that lil hump shouldn't be there. ;]

I think it's fine. I mean have you ever seen the swan? I know that they pick out ugly ppl and everythan, but plastic surgery helps these ppl to lift their heads up, and actually begin to accept themselves. I think if someone wants to get plastic surgery it's ok. It boosts their self esteem and i think thats great happy.gif

Personally, i think we should be happy with what God gave us. Also, getting plastic surgery is kinda a result of your own insecuirities. And what if they dont go away after you get it. You cant keep changing yourself, so we should just be happy with what we have. Plus, i like being 100% natural. happy.gif
