College, Attending or want to attend Options

There's really no best college in all areas. Colleges are often strong in some areas, but not as strong in others. Also, the location and atmosphere of a college is vital--you are going to be living there for several years, after all. I go to a small college in central PA, and I really like it. It's strong in my area, and I enjoy the area--but a student might not like it if he doesn't like the small-town feel. I spend time at the University of Pittsburgh, too (I have a friend who goes there), and it, too, is really nice--but it might not be if you don't like city life, for example.

A lot of "big-name" colleges are also highly overrated.

Greatest college to attend? Depends on the individual, of course. For me, UPenn Huntsman is la creme de la creme, but if not Huntsman, then Harvard or Johns Hopkins. I cannot leave the city.

i would have to say the university of chicago, Baylor and stanford :).

i really wanted to go to UVA at first, but my stupidass brother goes there, so my last resort is william&mary. -__-;

^Meh, it is an okay school. It is another saftey. It is in Rhode Island and is really pretty. Some of the dorms over look the ocean. Anyway, it is not an amazing school but it doesn't really suck. Not too hard to get into, and if you are anywhere close to smart, you can get a scholarship.

guys, apply to U MICHIGAN! all of you will love it there.. a great college town... great di versity.. top football and basketball programs. it gets cold fast though.. so if your from a warm weather area.. you might want to stay away.

i am not going to get into college..
there are so many competitive ppl in my school and those who got into harvard and other ivy schools are ALSO applying REGULAR! and im like...WHY!?? ur just taking up space! argh

nyu, boston u, barnard(columbia), carnegie mellon, union, occidental (California!!)
Suny - binghamton, geneseo, new paltz, FIT

altho nyu and boston u love the ppl from my school and nearly everyone who applies from my school gets in...there r so many ppl with 92+ avgs thats theres not gonna be room for me

nice to know! my parents r always like...the only way youll get a good job in life is if you go to an ivy...there ppl wait in line to hire students before they even graduate! and when they never even heard of a few schools i applied to...theyre like...haha ur gonna starve and not get a job b/c whoever has EVER heard of carnegie mellon...or Barnard..or occidental...glad to know its not true

theyre so misinformed its sad =\ they thought id get into an Ivy by going to stuyvesant hs (this school where a lot of kids get into Ivys) but theres so many competitive ppl here its killed my brain cells..agh

i wanna go to nyu gallatin...it promotes creativity and independant thinking..which is right up my alley..also occidental in LA, california too.. but i wanna stay in ny since all my friends are gonna stay on the east coast..eh..i dont want to be the only one in cali

Well a high-ranked college near where I live is definetely Princeton...so I would either attend there..or if somehow I can't, I'll go for Rutgers or NYU (not so far away from here).

oh, and i advise juniors to start writing college essays in the summer. seriously. some colleges put out their prompts early. if they don't, start writing drafts of your "personal statement" (500 words about anything). do yourself a huge favor and DON'T PROCRASTINATE.
