Adobe Photoshop help!!!!!!, I need help creating a pic for a layout |

Ok does anyone have Adobe Photoshop??????? I'm trying to make a pic for a new layout, and I can't figure out how to like layer pics.  Like say you have a picture of a statue, and beneath that is a pic of like a garden, and then you have writing, how can you make it so that all of those layers are visible? Like making the pics somewhat transparent. Here is a link to an example to what i mean................Gothic City Do you see how the pics are kinda transparent????? Does anyone know how to do that with Adobe Photoshop???? I have version 6.0. Please somebody help me!!! And thank you sooooo much for doing so!!!!!
