QUOTE(Retrogressive @ Sep 11 2004, 9:46 PM) wow--- thanks for stating the obvious. of course both sides are asshol.es and probibly neither actually care for america but I guess you have to pick one side or another though, or you can't b*tch about when something shi.tty happens. no, i like being indecisive. i can b*tch about both sides and nobody can say "but you're a democrat!". it helps to broaden the range of thinking too. |

QUOTE How many of them? Not many. Many of them have connections. On top of that, many people change. The majority of rich people earned their money. This is especially true for actors. QUOTE How do Republicans suppress freedom of speech? PATRIOT Act, TIPS, etc. All those things supress free speech and also invade privacy, which I think is probably the single biggest issue for celebrities and the rich. They will vote for whomever thinks will provide the most privacy protections. |

bitching about stuff, but never letting your voice get heard isn't going to "broaden your range of thinking" but by the way you're saying some things seems that you're pretty narrow minded anyway.

QUOTE One of the reasons which I feel most strongly about I guess is because I don't support tax cuts. I think it's helpful for us Americans to pay taxes to improve institutions across the country especially schools. I think the solution to a lot of the problems in America lies in improving schools and educating our youth so that they can stay off the streets (prevent violence or drug dealing and other illegal activity), learn how to practice safe sex and how to protect yourself against STDs (decrease teen pregnancy and disease) etc. etc. I totally agree. I'm a liberal democrat and a Political Science major. The reason I'm a democrat is because I don't believe in conservative ideals, etc. I am pro-choice, I don't think gay marriage should be banned, and the tax cut takes away from everything. And why have tax cuts when we're spending a $180 billion on the war in Iraq? During Pres. Bush's time in office the Social Security was drained, which in turn means that as the youth grows to adults and the adults to the retired and over 65 we have to pay more. Espeically since the babyboom after WWI and WWII. There will be less adults to pay for more senior citizens. Thats why we don't need tax cuts and we need to build up our Social Security again and make our debt smaller. No one likes debt. Alright, ciao! |

78% OF MINDLESS DRONES LIKE PUPPET A!!!
It's sad that when it's imperative we stand united in these times (against terrorism, the war in Iraq, etc.), that we are still compelled to be pitted against each other (donkey vs elephant). I think a lot of Americans have forgotten what's really important. Just a thought. |

I guess I would consider myself an Independent Liberal - I usually lean towards the Democratic point of view. But am not arrogant to shy away from giving Republicans "props" when they've done something good.

Thats why we don't need tax cuts and we need to build up our Social Security again and make our debt smaller. No one likes debt. Wait so let me get this straight... Let's say I run a business. I find out that no one is buying my product and I am losing money. The smart thing to do would be to: 1) Raise the price 2) Lower the price If you answered #2, congratulations! You have common sense! If you answered #1, congratulations! You must be a political science major! Your argument was basically: "We don't have enough workers to support the moochers, so let's make life even HARDER for our workers" ... doesn't work that way according to common economic sense. We should repudiate our foreign debt. We have a very good legal argument for repudiating the debt -- countries like Brazil and Argentina often do it when they change government because the former government spent the money on waste. Similarly, most of the money that our government has borrowed has been spent on unconstitutional programs -- when our government is replaced by a legitimate administration, then we will have the right to repudiate our debt and start anew. |
