Do you think he should've been given absolute power as king of Rome? Why or why not?

It's funny, we're learning this in World History right now.

Anways, I don't think he should've. I mean, power was already getting to his head, who knows what he would do if he became king? There is such a thing as TOO much power..

Right, but do you realize how prosperous Rome became because of him? I don't think anyone realizes how much he accomplished and how great of a leader he was. And...who doesn't want power? blink.gif

Edit // Furthermore, he actually...cared about the commoners, completely unlike the Roman senators.

Didn't he like... invade Rome after the Gallic campaign?
It's been a while since the History Channel aired anything about him.

Hey, Cincinnatus was dictator for a day and he gave up power to go back to working on his farm.

No, Cincinnatus was called by the Senate to defeat the Aequians and the Volscians -- it actually took him two weeks before he resigned the dictatorship. Caesar's invasion of Rome was somewhat bad -- it hastened the decline of the Republic and the beginning of Imperial Dictatorial Rome... but the fact is that the Senate was so corrupt that it would have eventually collapsed in another generation or two anyway.
