*grumbles* does xanga just have to do everything within the header?

so my question to all you xanga skin gurus out there is.....is there a way to move the module side (the thinner....thing) without moving the posts.

for example. could this image possibly be turned into a xanga layout. or do i have to move everything together? (like....move the bigger blue box down to where the smaller one is)

and uh....does everything have to be colored? can the tables for the modules and posts have transparent backgrounds? xanga is turning everything i know about html on its head. too much css crap. @_@;

what a nice layout ;P css and div layers may be crap, but you need them to do what you want ;X

you can get rid of your left modules by doing:
<style type=css/text>
table.left {
display:none;
}
</style>

then you're free to create a div layer for that section (check out the div tutorials on this site).. using divs, you don't need to move the bigger box down. you can place them whereever you want, but it takes a while to get the coordinates right, so be patient! ;P

as for your other question, you can customize any text/table you want with css.

thanks a bunch. i actually use divs a lot...otherwise i would never have attempted such a layout. it's just kinda strange and weird when xanga only allows you to edit in the header. all sorts of html tricks come out that i didn't know existed....it's enough to drive me batty.

anyways yea i'd only seen ones where the div encompassed the entire blog. and i didn't know how to make separate div layers for both the modules and the posts from within the header. but i guess deleting the modules altogether makes sense (gee...why didn't i think of that?)

i'll definitely try the code you gave me. you are my savior! ....saviour!

sorry for not clarifying earlier, but you'll have to make TWO div layers; one for the module area, and one for the blog.. however, make sure you don't close the div on the blog. for example:

<style type=css/text>
div.blah {
margin-top:#;
margin-left:#;
}
div.blog {
margin-top:#;
margin-left:#;
}
</style>

<div class=blah>blah blah whatever tou want</div>
<div class=blog>note there is no closing tag for the blog div

thanks! uh....are you sure this works? i can't seem to recreate the modules. they just don't show up. and the closing tag for the first div doesn't seem to work. so all the posts/blog get stuck in a module-sized bar on the left.

no wonder i haven't seen any xangas that look like this. this is soooo making me crazy. i give up! but thank you for all your wonderful help. i've taken to using a.... simple...single div layer. wacko.gif no more thinking...it's not even my xanga!

here's the final result. i hope he doesn't mind me sharing. thank you sooooooooo incredibly much.

ETA: OMB and while my brain was frying i checked out your vectors! stellar! :)
