when making a skin.. how do you find the coordinates to click nd stuff for self-made links?

well i just open the pic up with MS paint; when i mouse over a point, on the very bottom theres the coordinates... so i use the square tool and note where it starts, then drag it across the word, then release the mouse button, and note where the 2nd pair of coords are. sry if this doesn't help, im still new around here; only made 1 skin so far....
