Yes. I give up. Tumblr is just really un user-friendly & I just can't work out how to code a completely customized layout on this site!
I would like to use an old one that I originally designed for myspace (many years ago) - it does not work on Tumblr, so I need somebody who really knows their way around this... I am willing to pay for your time if you're not so keen on doing this - I just really need to get my profile up. Prices are negotiable... Alternatively, if somebody could share their stylesheet (compatible with Tumblr) with divs... Thank you so much in advance! Kindest... |

Actually, Tumblr is very user-friendly. They even set up pre-defined variables to make the HTML and CSS easier. They even allow Javascript. Can Myspace do that? Didn't think so.
![]() Anyhow, try reading their custom themes documentation. Take a look at some source code of some layouts and check out how other designers have done it. When I made my theme, it was actually easier than coding a normal HTML document. Or, if you're not up to it, you can contact me or other designers to help you out. ![]() |

Hi Mike! Thank you for your response.
I took a look at their documentation.. over... & over... again. It's just not sinking in! It had only been 2 years since I was designing & coding websites so it shouldn't be this hard - BUT IT IS! It's soo frustrating. It clearly doesn't recognize my html stylesheet for myspace... why is it so different? What is the difference? Is there any other simplified examples of a bloggers stylesheet on CB that I can take a look at? I'm really going to need a guideline for this. |

Simply because Tumblr is completely different from Myspace, code-wise. There is no "About Me" or "I'd Like to Meet" and etc. sections in Tumblr.
It's just like coding a normal HTML web page, except you use certain sections and variables. |

Aa.. when it hits me, I'll be kicking myself! I really miss designing & creating layouts.
Mike, I have sent you a message regarding a custom layout =) |

I personally just wouldn't suggest starting out trying to do one entirely from scratch. Go to the theme garden, download a few themes, and then switch to HTML mode. Either edit them from there, or maybe just read through what they've done. That helped me a lot, at least. The Theme Docs help but they're a little bit over simplified sometimes.
