My sister is stressing out about a marketing competition she's participating in right now (she's in charge of designing her team's logo, and this whole week the other members have been saying they like it... and now, a couple hours before it's due, they tell her they don't WTF), and I'm trying to comfort her.

That, and course selection OMFG LOL

Hah, this embodies every night of my life. Last night I was up until probably 2, even though I should have been really tired because the night before I stayed up till 7 or 8 am and then got 4 or 5 hours of poor sleep on someone's recliner. I don't know why I can't ever sleep.

Even though i'm dying to get some shut eye...
i just ate though...so sleeping after you eat means you get extra fat.

and i can't afford more poundage. :/
haha.

Eating before you sleep wards off nocturnal post absorptive catabolism, which is when you oxidize muscle mass in your sleep, causing you to store more body fat the next time you eat.

So eating say, a bit before you sleep, actually helps you lose weight or rather not gain?

No. Muscle weighs more than fat, so by putting on extra adipose tissue and burning muscle, you'll still be losing weight. It just won't be fat weight.

That's the net amount. Technically, you do lose fat because you're catabolizing both fat and muscle, but then replacing the losses with fat when you eat.

Hmm. So is eating before you go to sleep good/bad, assuming the next morning you eat a regular breakfast, go to class, and not work out?

It's less relevant if you're completely sedentary, because then you're on a maintenance phase and you're not really in risk of losing the muscle you have. The more you progress, the more easily you undergo proteolysis (muscle catabolism, or burning).

if you workout at any regular rate, you should eat low GI carbs and casein protein (found in dairy products) before you sleep.

It prevents the storage of excess fat.
