these little notebooks with elastic bands and a little pocket.
what makes them so good? they're really expensive. but it seems like a lot of people love these things.

do you own one? would you get one?

if only i could get myself to finish the three moleskins i have right now

it's a lot of hype though the notebooks themselves are pretty great, i love having the pocket fold in the back

it's known as the "legendary notebook", used by leonardo da vinci and other "masters".

it's a good quality notebook, but i agree a lot of it is hype. i actually only own two tiny ones, but that's because i really liked the size; i prefer the quality of bristol pads for sketching.

I personally own and use moleskine notebooks. I love the pocket sized ones, easy to bring around with you all the time, and they're durable enough to last being stuffed in your pocket all the time, which I think is important. The pocket was nice, before it fell apart on me (albiet, I abuse the shit out of notebooks). Notebooks are only good if you can have them with you all the time to take notes.

Lately, I haven't been using my moleskine as much, since I'm able to have my macbook around with me all the time and I can just take notes on the stickies widget on the mac dashboard.

But it's still great for those moments where I'm not able to have or use my macbook. I still have it with me most if not all of the time.

Alas, that brings me to my last point, moleskines, Target brand memo pads, whatever, it doesn't matter what you take notes and write your ideas down on so long as you do. Sometimes I take notes with a moleskine, sometimes it's on my computer, what matters is the content and keeping track of all of it. I'd be a huge mess if i didn't write everything down... When they say moleskine "it's known as the 'legendary notebook,' used by leonardo da vinci and other 'masters,' moleskine just happened to be the medium they used - what's important is that they wrote things down. Moleskine just happens to be a pretty good quality notebook!

Umm yeah this is probably my lengthiest and most informational post in months but that's because I think writing everything down is very important for an artist.

I Like my mole skin Mostly for the paper and hard cover. The pocket is handy too. I have had one for about 2 years. A teacher suggested I get one since I was unable to turn in a homework assignment that wasn't 95% covered in random sketches.

I have been buying this one for awhile:

Serves me well.

is it really worth the price though? i see notebooks here for like, 2usd and the paper feels the same too.
i've spent a lot lately on art supplies, so im not particularly interested in notebooks. i had to get a sketchbook though, but i was suggested to get something where i can easily tear out the pages.

my friend who uses a moleskin loves it a lot, especially the pocket at the back. i think if i ever get one it would be because of the pocket too.

for having a place to keep your most valuable ideas and notes... $10-15 is nothing
i didn't really care for the pocket since it broke on me, but hey it's a fun feature and great while it lasts

if you're broke broke stickies and regular notebooks will do though

Yeah I'd say they're worth it. I have a watercolor one, a planner, and several sketch ones and they're all durable and serve their purpose. thumbsup.gif

i think it would be, for convenience and aesthetics. i would rather carry around a moleskin than a regular sketchbook in my purse.
