close enough to new, need words of advice Options

I didnt really introduce myself much in my first post, so....
my name's Theresa....live in Missouri...20 years old....college student. Ok, that's enough basic info on me

Really, I wanted some words of advice... I've been around here a couple days and already frustrated. I trying to get my xanga to look cool, but its not. I came here so I could learn how to make a skin that I can easily change background/colors/pictures on so I can make them for my friends. But looking around, I can tell I have noooooo skills at this and even the ppl who claim to be new make amazing skins!!

I've used a few of the scripts, read about all the coding stuff like 10 times, and still dont know what i'm doing hahaha

Any words of advice to keep me trying???
(now that i think about it, i'm sure this is in the wrong forum but didnt know where else to put it)
