do you guys think about this? i think about this all the time. i can't even imagine not being able to easily research something at the drop of a hat. i don't understand how things were done before. there are so many insignificant things that look up on a semi daily basis. i didn't have the internet/computer when i was a kid, but back then most my questions were easily answered by my parents.

sure people can read books. i do read books. but it's not the same thing at all. if i had to read an entire book anytime i wanted to know anything then there are a lot of things i just wouldn't know.

on a similar note, something that i increasingly find myself thinking about when i'm reading printed material is "wouldn't it be awesome if i could hit "apple + f" right now and search this whole thing. i am not a fan of all that reading on screens, nook, ipad type of stuff, but i can't deny it would be really nice to be able to search my books for specific quotes/sections.

Table of Contents? Index?

All jokes aside, yeah, I've wondered about this, too. I considered maybe everyone just got their quick information by contacting someone else that probably knew, watching the news, reading the newspaper, or something like that (and books, of course).

About the "apple + f" thing, sometimes I kind of for a second feel that I can actually do something like that. Like I can just "delete" or "refresh" something. It makes me question how much time I actually spend on the computer at the very least...

I remember just asking people until someone knew, but like you said the questions we have are not the hardest things to answer when we are little. While I can't remember the exact age, I would say I have had pretty constant access to the internet since maybe 13? I just know it was young. or it feels like it. I have horrible time perception of time.

By the way, a couple of weeks ago, I was writing an English paper. As I was writing (in pen), I made a grammatical mistake. And sadly, my left hand moved over the paper (or kind of hovered there) as if I were going to press Ctrl + Z.

F*ck yo.

i don't really know how i'd manage. sometimes i have really strange problems, and i feel like no matter what problem i have, i can google it and see someone else has it.

i google things non stop. if i'm cooking, i'm likely to google something about the process or what i'm making. if i see something interesting on tv i google it. if i'm reading a book, i find something interesting in the book, then i'll go google that. i google my health problems all the time. if i wake up and my mouth tastes like a dead vulture then i'll google that (usually to find someone on yahoo answers has already asked what to do if your mouth tastes like a dead vulture). i read reviews online of everything from movies, to books, to toothpaste.

Google should be everyone's best friend. nod.gif It annoys me when people are too lazy to look something up themselves and ask other people instead when it's just a simple bit of information they could learn in 10 seconds instead of wasting time asking around.

Google is illegal in China

Therefore, having a best friend is illegal in China

Sucks to be Chinese

Doesn't suck to be from Hong Kong, though. :D

I don't think I'll ever use anything but google. At my vocational class they used bing as their default search engine and it would always piss me off. They also use IE too. Little douche bags.
