meh, i was looking at the satorialist blog (http://thesartorialist.blogspot.com/)

and for the longest time, i've noticed that all the cities in which people are alittle more fashionably creative, and the spots are more plentiful, and all the big events held, and all the flagship stores, and a bunch of cooler shit are in cities like New York, LA, Miami, sometimes chicago. or outside the US like Paris,milan,London.


and sometimes i think...

in Frisco Texas seeing someone dressed like this would be a f*cking abnormality

but in a place like new york it seems to be at least close to business as usual. ( i know not everyone dresses like that there, but at least its somewhat common)

so heres the question, why is this? why are some states kinda....wack? lol. because ive been all around TX. were in the same country but the cultures seem completely different.

Hm, I see what you mean. I'm not really sure, but it's probably because cities like you mentioned are more populated, more urban, and/or have a more popular reputation because of business and industry or they're noted for historical events. And I'll be honest, I'm not really sure how everything goes down in the big cities because I, too, live in a rather unnoticeable town. Well, it is making improvements so I guess you could say my town is in between.

As far as culture goes, it could be diverse because of different environments and surroundings. Agricultural and rural areas will most likely have small events or just little things in the town because they don't make much money off of agriculture. However, in big industry-type cities, like Los Angeles or New York, there would be large events because of the profit they make off of industry, mainly technology or something creative like that. And because of these profits and/or large events, they are more populated and more accustom to the industry-type environment and large corporate buildings.

Oh, and about the clothes and all, more people in New York or whatever would probably wear those clothes instead of people like in your town or mine because of the environment as well. In industry-type cities, it's more about profit and business. So, it's only logical that you'd dress with such attire for these business based cities. I mean, you wouldn't be wearing overalls or some ragged clothes for the type of business in New York or Chicago or San Fransisco. Tourist attraction type cities like Miami would more likely wear comfortable clothes that aren't really for agricultural means or big industries.

There's probably a lot of other things I'm not mentioning but some other aspects could be the layout of the town/city, the technology being used, they way things are handled, the average person's lifestyle in that town/city, and maybe even artistic aspects could be applied (such as signs, paintings, monuments, structures, and the sort).

It's not that uncommon in Houston. Certain areas of town are different than others. The wards tend to be more 'ghetto'. The Galleria area / West U / Washington / The Heights have some very interesting people. Oh yeah Montrose too. I guess it doesn't matter if you don't know the different areas of Houston, but what I'm getting at is you just have to know where to look. Maybe in a small town it's not really going to matter, but in a larger area where you don't know every bit about the city, there's tons to discover.

In my opinion, these urban cities developed into creative powerhouses because they are so populated and the reason they are so populated could be because the reason cities were built in the first place was to create environments for cheaper living (apartments and such are much more common), lets not forget, in the beginning, cities were viewed as slummy ghettos without proper sanitation but eventually changed over time because the main source of incomes in cities were a persons creative ability, it would be rare to find a labor job in a city and live a nice life whereas in small towns, you could live a moderately nice life off labor. Also cities are more meant for businesses. Urban Businesses attract more creative people to work for them compared to lets say agriculture. Overtime, cities have become standard for young entrepreneur to find their way; Therefore, flourishing. It also depends, usually agricultural areas are more conservative (statistically) and educated people are more liberal and we all know that there are more educated people in the cities. Conservative people are exactly as they seem, more reserved about fashion and trends and Im guessing the community of the OP is a moderately conservative area, seeing how it is a city under the radar(not very known).
