i agree with sikdragon, i don't think there's any way that the US would sink to being a 3rd world country; we are the richest, have the most weapons, biggest armies, a high population, free will, and concern for human rights.
i think that last one is very important, because many middle-eastern 3rd worlds are dictatorships where everyone is fleeing and no one stands a chance to fix their country
..and then we come in, so that just stops us from being 3rd world

We don't have a concern for human rights.

A good indicator of a country's concern for human rights is the percentage of people in jail who HAVE NEVER HARMED ANYONE ELSE.

In the United States, 0.7% of our population is in jail. Of those, 2/3 (about 0.45%) are there for non-violent offenses, i.e. things that should not be crimes. This makes us THE MOST oppressive major country.

We're not the richest, we're billions of dollars in debt.

i think norway is one of the richiest..

the only way america would turn into a thrid world country would be if there was a shortage of food and people turned into cannables.

CIA World Factbook says that the richest country per capita is Luxemburg. America is the second.

QUOTE(ComradeRed @ Jul 20 2004, 3:56 PM)
This is ridiculous.

THe United States would have to have negative growth for a sustained period of several decades to be reduced to third world country status. As now, our economic growth far surpasses our population growth.

well someone did their social studies home work happy.gif
