I think you should become his friend.
Talk to him about stuff he enjoys. Talk to him about stuff you enjoy. Then you can move on to flirting.  Don't overdo it on the flirting, though..

Haha...i think you should get to know him first..y'know build off of that. Because if you just go up to a guy and say, " HI WANNA GO OUT WITH ME CAUSE I REALLY REALLY THINK YOU'RE CUTE!" ...that'd probably scare him off...and it's quite possible that he'd be a total jerk...but...y'know...go with where you feel like going. Approach him is the first step...the next step...er....*runs off*
