Windows 2000 Professinal Help? Options

I know the windows is a old ass desktop.

well my mom's friend just gave her it. cause her friends mom died.
it's kinda brand new, i mean no damage, no nothing like that.
came with a printer also, and their was also a note

and my mom's happy since she has a computer, but it's so slow.
and i downloaded firefox for her, java, and adobe flash player. but thats about it.
and firefox keeps crashing, with "memory is low" error

the computer is sooooo slow......
please help me, she only wants it too check her email,
and search & ebay.

...... so how can i make it faster?
