ive seen a lot of really basic sites. and i have seen some really complex sites and everywhere in between. what do you think is a good medium. been working on my site for a while. i like basic, but at the same time i want to be able to show off my skillz. watcha think?

ive been looking at this site for inspiration.

the problem, textures arent my specialty. and i thought it would create a good medium if i mixed simplicity with texture.

i need to work on that for a bit.

or i could try a cartoony style site. idk. anyone seen any sites like that recently in those styles?

I started this the other day:

but its obviously not complete. i only got the top half. and its corny. im just hitting a block.

I try to focus on minimalism whenever I design a website. I don't like seeing overly complex websites. Even Cb's complexity is pushing it.

I think it looks pretty nice. I'd suggest you move down the top navigation links a bit and make the bar when you hover over expand to the container's height. Also, the top banner is ehhh... You used a bit too many fonts on this. Otherwise, it's pretty nice. thumbsup.gif
