^That's the problem though; more layouts are coming in practically every day, yet there's not a lot more traffic coming. I'm thinking the members here are not so much as wanting CreateBlog as a whole to "come back from it's grave", but rather the CreateBlog Forums instead-while still initially focusing on CB's basic purpose (which is to supply visitors with a bunch of useful layouts, graphics, scripts, and tutorials). It's a good idea though to branch out to several other social networks and promote CreateBlog (or maybe more specifically, it's forums). At least it's something that is different, that most of us want to participate in, and that can (and is) somewhat of a fun experience.

Definitely agree. How many people still use Xanga anymore? And Friendster? Even LiveJournal's popularity seems to be waning. Tumblr is the new hotness, and we have no resources for Tumblr. Even Wordpress is probably more popular than Xanga, yet we ditched our Wordpress support a while back (at least as far as layouts go).

i don't come here often, but i don't think making sites that talk about another site are going to get you much publicity. after all, the only people that will really know about the other sites (tumblr, twitter, whatever) will be the people that know about the forums. to be honest, you'll be driving traffic away from the place you intend the traffic to go. it would take many months/years to advertise this place enough to get enough fresh meat to make you all satisfied, so driving people to another site that promotes the site just seems silly.

That's cause everyone has moved to FB and FB does not allow for design. And no one gives a shit about Myspace. and ...xanga...wutisthat? And the truth is, keeping a simple, clean design is the desired aesthetic now. No one wants tacky little pictures of celebrities or swirly paintbrushed stars all over their websites unless they're 11.

Yes, that's good and all, but how are we going to inform people about the blog? Like Spencer said, " after all, the only people that will really know about the other sites (tumblr, twitter, whatever) will be the people that know about the forums." If we were to link people to the blog so that the blog could in theory link to createblog, is it not easier to just link to createblog in the first place. How are other people going to look for the blog for the site if they don't even know about the site in the first place?

Tumblr is it right now. MySpace is dying, Facebook is full of uncertainty, but Tumblr...big. Everything else is niche. If we can get CB to make it big on Tumblr while Tumblr is peaking (ie templates galore, featured artists being motivation to submit to CB), CB will go back up the ranks.

But if you think there's no point in CB being on Tumblr because it doesn't do anything, then there's no reason for web designers to join forums and showcase their work; or for bands to create music profiles to
advertise wherever possible; for growing companies to create multiple websites with different purposes aimed at different clientèle; etc.

Networking, when done properly through the right venues, can create amazing results. Tumblr, as of now, just happens to be one of those venues.
