I discovered this pretty cool piece of software called CoverSutra that interfaces with iTunes on Mac OS X. It does some pretty cool and useful things, like...
  1. Lets you search your music library, even if iTunes isn't open.
  2. Puts the currently playing song and its album cover on your desktop.
  3. Provides handy shortcuts for opening, showing, and hiding iTunes, as well as playing, pausing, and skipping tracks (if you don't have a Mac with media keys).
  4. Gives you a floating window with player controls for iTunes.
  5. Displays the name/info of a track on your screen when a new song begins playing.
  6. Interfaces with Last.fm.
It's pretty cool, you should check it out if you like music and listen to it a lot on your Mac. I've replaced GrowlTunes with it. It costs $20 but it lets you use it for free for 10 days.

Hmm, is this any better than the iTunes plug-in in Quicksilver?

I think it does more (putting the currently playing song, along with artwork, on the desktop is pretty handy), and has a better UI -- to be honest, I've always found the QS plugin to be a bit clunky.
