Problems With Dog & Moving To A New House, bark bark bark

I'm moving to a new house in about a week. New town. Everything.

My dog is four years old and has never lived with a fence.
He is free to roam where-ever as we currently live out of town.

In our NEW town, we live in a neighborehood and the people living next to us have a giant barking BOXER for a dog :/

we also will now have a fence.

ON TOP OF THAT, we have a walking path that will go RIGHT behind the back end of our yard and a playground a few yards away from that. My dog will go crazy and bark. Since we're renting, he isnt allowed to or he will have to be given away.

The fence thing worries me too. He's a big dog, and can easily jump it.
on top of that- what if he and the boxer dont become "friends" ? and just have a barking fit all the time?

I dont wanna give away my dog :(
People have suggested putting a bark collar on him straight away when we move. But that doesnt solve the fence problem.

AND he's MY dog, so i think my parents will make ME pay for the bark collar. IDK if i have the money for it right now.

Sorry this is so long, and tips or tricks? advice? ideas?

School is also starting up soon and i wont be able to keep watch on him while we're gone so he doesnt bark or jump the fence(if he will, not sure if he will or not yet)

He's an outside dog btw. Inside while we're out is not a possibility.
x

just give a serious answer or dont even post at all.

If i were you i would bring your dog over to the place more. Maybe even spend the night there and have him get use to everything new.

have you considered an electric fence? set it to beep when it gets close, and a medium size zap if he crosses it. use flags (white) to mark the corners

See how your dog reacts while you're there. Let him run free in the fenced in area and see if he tries to get away or barks at the other dog. The people who own the Boxer should've trained their dog better than that, but maybe your dog will be submissive and let the Boxer be.

If your dog doesn't do so well while you're there and you're nervous that he'll get loose, crate him. You don't want an outside dog in your house because it will cause them a lot of anxiety. Put him in a crate until he adjusts to his new home and doesn't want to jump out. If he barks at the Boxer, train him to be quiet when you tell him enough is enough (if he's already been trained this he will listen to you and learn that barking at other dogs is not allowed).

he actually has an electric fence where we live at even though its out of town. He knows as soon as the collar goes on him that he will get shocked if he crosses the perimeter. When he's good and doesnt try and go out of our "yard" we take it off him until he runs off, then it goes back on, but i dont think i'd like to have a shock collar AND a bark collar on him at once :/

this is him

i think the dog in the other yard, the boxer, is a male too :S

If your dog has only lived where you are right now all his life, then he might have a little anxiety in a new place, especially if you can't be there with him a lot while he's adjusting. A barker collar won't keep him from running away. My mom's dog lived in our house for a little over 5 years but adjusted pretty quickly when she moved. Crates can be expensive, especially if you have a big dog, but you could always check out craigslist or a farm supply store, they usually sell them cheaper than a pet supply store. Just ease your dog into being outside... even if he could handle it right away you might be the one with the anxiety, haha.

Oh, i have the electric fence collar already, im not SO much worried about the fence.
I'm worried about the playground, walking path, and the dog next door and is barking :/
he does bark and just about everything. that may be because we live out of town though and he's not used to cars and people and all that.

Hopefully he'll adjust.

I'll have to see how it goes and let you all know, atm i just want as many ideas and alternatives as i can get so if one doesnt work, i can resort to the other.

i really dont wanna have to give him up :(
