Joe,

I can't help but notice that the majority of the users that frequent this website have a complete lack of respect for you. In fact, to the new user, some of the comments that other members hurl your way seem downright rude and disrespectful, however those who sit back and observe quickly realize you're bringing it upon yourself. Maybe you realize this, and maybe you don't. I'm just going to tell you because this is the last bit of respect I have for you as a human being. The sooner you stop acting like an idiot; the sooner people will actually find respect for you. From this point on, if you do not change when responding to my posts I will treat you the way you clearly wish to be treated.

Sincerely,

Uronacid

This is a quote directly from the wiki page you posted:
QUOTE
Chip creep occurs due to thermal expansion; the contracting and expanding during system heat up and cools down.

What makes you think that anyone could explain the concept of "Chip Creep" any better than that? We all know you're more intelligent than this. It's hard to believe you're this stupid. Again, stop acting like an idiot. Are you mentally disabled? I'm just being honest.

You know what, I don't think I ever actually answered the question. Yes, I do shut off my computer, but only if I'm not going to use it for more than 24 hours. This weekend me and Holly went up to 1000 Islands NY for a mini birthday vacation. I shut-off my computer. :)

That's irrelevant.

No it isn't. Linux doesn't turn into a slug when it's left on overnight.

I have one computer that runs Windows 7 only, and all I do with that one is reboot it once every other day.

I have my computer connected to a surge suppressor. I Turn off my computer as well as the surge suppressor. They say that you should turn your computer off/on as little as possible to avoid chip creep, however in all my years as a computer tech I have not once seen a case involving chip creep.

I've seen it once, in a computer with an IntelDX4. It just doesn't happen with modern computers.

Yes, I do. It's usually just common sense, no? I mean, I get to save energy and sleep in peace. The only time I ever leave it on is if A) I watch T.V. and go to sleep without remembering to turn it off (but I do sometimes wake up in the night since it's a little loud or if I randomly get an IM), B) I am downloading a file that would take a long time to download, and C) if I have to design or code something that's important or if it's something I really need want to finish.
