Isn't there a rule somewhere that says mods are supposed to leave a note when they edit a post?

Quoted myself and purposefully didn't take out the image tag... and suddenly the image tag was edited out with nothing from whoever did it.

If there isn't a rule, there should be a rule, imo.

I don't think there is. I'm pretty sure it's just a courtesy thing.

Usually they leave an edit note. It IS part of the mod guidelines
QUOTE
it is the responsibility of the staff members to let the members know why their posts have been moderated.

I can't see who edited what, so I don't know who edited your post.

If mods edit something they don't always have to leave a note in the post, but they do have to let you know that they've edited something of yours.

Yeah, this is a big thing with me. Mods should always communicate why they edit someone's post and posts should only be edited if totally necessary.

Although, I think there's also a rule for members that they shouldn't quote image tags so maybe since the mod thought you already knew, they went ahead and edited it. _unsure.gif

It's not a warn-able rule anymore. That being said, it is nice when people don't quote images from the same page and yes, mods can edit those but they still should communicate why the posts are being edited.

I don't particularly find it necessary to edit those kinds of posts, but to each their own.

^ Yeah. If the image was from the same page, I would have taken out the tags. I've been here long enough to know the rules. But the image was taken from an older post in a completely different thread so I thought editing out the tags was a little unnecessary.

Sorry, Spencer. I merged your topic with this one since it's basically the same complaint.

Also:
QUOTE
QUOTING AND POSTING LARGE IMAGES
Effective 10/17/08, warnings will no longer be given for failing to remove image tags when quoting or failing to thumb large images. That being said, please try to be courteous and not quote an image if the image has been posted on the current page or stretch the forums with large images. Please note that staff members may opt to edit your post to thumb large images and/or remove image tags when posts contain quoted images.

Warnings aren't given out for image quoting, but mods can edit the tags. If you don't want a particular tag removed, just ask. How else would they have known?

well, if we didn't remove the tags ourselves, chances are we didn't care enough to or we wanted them there.

I don't really care to keep picking at this, but if someone quotes an image that was posted just above them (or a few posts above them) and doesn't remove the image tags the person is usually just being lazy. If it's an image from another page, then it makes more sense. When CB was busier mods would be off doing more important things than removing image tags.... nowadays most people have high speed internet so it's not like a couple of images are going to cause the page to freeze.

If someone makes a fuss about image tags being removed in a quote it's not like it's that difficult to put them back (if your a mod or the person who made the post is an OM.)
