Ok, so I just got my Papa Johns delivery, and I am looking over the receipt, when I come across something interesting. They charge you for them to deliver the pizza. Now I have no problem tipping people, but my question is this:

Should you HAVE to tip the driver if they are already giving him/her the delivery charge?

I guess it would be kinda polite to tip them because afterall they did drive to deliver it.
However we never tipped our delivery men becuase they always gave our pizza an hour late and called twice saying that they were lost and dont know whuch way they are heading.

ROFL! Of course it would be nice to tip them, but sometimes I just wonder. I read about tipping in this article in GQ, and it said that you don't have to tip a delivery guy if they are already getting a percentage of what you are paying anyway. For instance, My pizza cost 15 dollars. They charged me like a dollar and some change in tax, and almost two dollars in delivery charges.

gas expense has to be compensated for when it's delivered...

so i don't know, i still tip them. just because it costs more to deliver doesn't mean they are getting that money.

speaking of tips, there's some restaurants that pool the tips. how f**ked is that? then everyone splits the total, so basically the bad waiters make as much as the good.

Now that is really f**ked up. That is why whenever I tip, I always give it directly to the waiter/tress.

thats crap, they dont deserve it. Especially one experience we had at a restaurant we had this girl who was really nice and polite and gave us everything quickly but then had to leave to go home for something and we had this guy. After we were done and it was noticeable that we were it took him about 30-40 minutes to give us the check, he even would walk by and look at our table and then just walk past and take someone elses order or give another check to someone else. So after we waved to him we left a tip but wrote down for the girl. She deserved it more.

I dont think you have to, but they would appreciate more of a tip then they already added to your bill as a delivery charge.

I always tip extra, but thats just me.

If they force you to tip, to hell with them. I'll tip, but I'm not going to double tip that shit.

My mom waitressed for a bit when she was in High School and the place that she worked at did that. She has some stories about what they all did to other people that didn't pull their weight.

I don't order delivery that often, but if I do and I have to ask for change back it always make me feel like a dickhole. I feel like I should be telling them "keep the change".

Wasn't this topic in debate earlier?

Anyways, for me, I usually tip TOO much, or TOO less. It depends on the service really, or if I think the person serving is cute. I tip more to girls, and less on guys. But if the guy is genuinely nice, and not a jerk, then I'll give him decent tip.

Me too! But, I dont really weigh my tip on the hotness factor. If you suck enough, I wont tip you anything and if you are really good, Ill tip you a ton.

My mom waitressed for 29 years.

She deserved it. Explain to me how I sat at the table for 30 mins before she even brought out a menu or water with lemon.

^ Dude, that's not funny at all. I'm not really sure why you're laughing about it. Did you honestly sit there for 30 minutes like a dumbass waiting for someone to bring you menus, instead of going back to the front and asking where your server is? You sat there for 30 minutes staring at your table with no server instead of asking someone about it? For all you know, you could have been assigned to another server who was being irresponsible and doing something in the back. So then the manager tells a different server that works there to pick up your table since you've been waiting so long... and at the end of the meal, you give her a penny. What the f*ck kind of insulting shit is that??? If you weren't happy with your service, you only give a 10% tip. And trust me, a 10% tip (ie, $3 on a $30 meal) is like a slap in the face for any server. Servers only work for tips and they don't get a paycheck(they make $2.13 hourly that goes towards taxes).

So many people really need some lessons in proper etiquette and manners. How would you like it if your mother was working her ass off in a restaurant to feed you, and some little sh*thead kid gives her a penny (one of the most insulting, degrading, and demeaning things you could do to a server) for making a mistake?

If there's a delivery charge, screw the tip. That's why I don't order from shitty chain food restaurants.

Tough shit. Life ain't easy. You give me a shitty service, I'm not going to tip. And I understand Javonn's position. You expect someone to come serve you at some point. Plus, in my position, I've tried asking someone where my server was. All I get was "She/He'll be right with you" and I have to wait anyways.

Either way, shit sucks. But life ain't a walk in the park. QQ more.
