This is my take on this pathetic attempt to ass kiss.

We know that you are a great civilization, and your accomplishments have earned the respect of the United States and the world.

We've respected you so much that we decided money was more important than your democratic government. So in 1953 we had the C.I.A. overthrow Iran's democratically elected prime minister in corporate interests. Western oil companies bitched to the U.S. about not being able to use Iran's own resources, so we overthrew a democracy to install a pro-Western dictator. Not to mention that we've considered Iran as part of the "axis of evil" for the past eight years. That's right- evil.

For nearly three decades relations between our nations have been strained.

Strained is a bit of an understatement. See above.

The United States wants the Islamic Republic of Iran to take its rightful place in the community of nations.

...because the U.S. determines "the place" of other Sovereign Nations...

You have that right -- but it comes with real responsibilities, and that place cannot be reached through terror or arms, but rather through peaceful actions that demonstrate the true greatness of the Iranian people and civilization. And the measure of that greatness is not the capacity to destroy, it is your demonstrated ability to build and create.

Coming from a nation that has invaded a peaceful country and occupied it for the past six years, causing the death of hundreds of thousands of non-combatants. Also coming from a nation that encouraged your neighbor (the same nation we illegally invaded in 2003) to attack you. Oh, then we played you off against each other. We gave your neighbors intelligence and weapons while providing you with weapons. We then sat back and watched.

Also, our military shot down one of your commercial civilian aircraft in 1988. We at first made excuses but later admitted we wrongly killed 290 Iranians. Our respect for Iran is so great that we refused to apologize for this.

So remember, only we can engage in covert operations and kill your civilians. You're not allowed to.

So on the occasion of your New Year, I want you, the people and leaders of Iran, to understand the future that we seek... It's a future where the old divisions are overcome, where you and all of your neighbors and the wider world can live in greater security and greater peace.

Forget our past aggressions towards your nation. We've only killed your civilians without apology, covertly funded wars killing your soldiers, and overthrown your democracies in the interest of money. You can thank Corporate America.




If Obama wanted to gain the respect of Iranians, he should have asked for forgiveness for the hostilities and terrorism on the part of the United States. This address was a joke... f*ck outta here.
