So I'm planning on going to San Diego Comic Con again this year - this would make my third year in a row, except this time I won't be going as an exhibitor (hopefully I'll actually get to enjoy it this time). The problem is since I'm not going on business, my trip's not paid for; so I'm responsible for getting the hotel situation sorted out. Looking at hotel rates in San Diego made me want to cry (I'm not going alone, so I want something reasonable for the people I have to split the costs with). I thought about renting a condo that'll sleep around 6 people - the problem with that is that most listings I've come across require a full week stay, and I'm hoping to get away with only staying 3-4 nights. Online listings have been horrible and I'm not getting anywhere.

So my question is for those of you who live in the San Diego area - does anyone have any advice for something relatively inexpensive that isn't too terribly far from the convention center (distance is flexible at this point)? I'm hoping to bring a reasonably sized group, so my preference would be a vacation rental of some sort. Anyone else who has any similar experience and wants to offer advice is welcome.
