immortal technique is crap because he can't even become mainstream just because somebody can't become mainstream doesn't mean they're 'crap'.. that's prolly the most ignorant thing i've heard all day. lil wayne is main stream, he's crap. ashlee simpson, britney spears, birdman, flo-rida..they all suck and they're mainstream. |

Some people don't understand that people (in this case underground artists such as Immortal Technique) want nothing to do with mainstream. They don't care about all the material benefits that the mainstream producers/labels offer. |

immortal technique is crap because he can't even become mainstream True story, dude hops on BET, a station known for its promotion of mainstream music that is considered bad for the black community, to get exposure. Dude gets ethered, bodied, murked, killed, loses, beaten, defeated, [insert any thing thats deals with defeat here] by Posterboy and suddenly claims he has no interest in mainstream. He just using that as an excuse because he knows he isn't a marketable artist.

Obviously since this isn't even a real battle... only BET the most un-hip-hop network would create a freestyle battle which consist of 30 second freestyles (LOL WTF?) If this was 1 minute, Immortal Technique would have put him in the grave. And if you honestly think that this battle is what made Immortal Technique decide to never come to the mainstream, you're brutally mistaken. You kids still don't even know the difference between the mainstream and underground. Here's a clue... one industry doesn't screw you over and doesn't make pretend you're a millionaire while the other does exactly that while also giving you fame. I'd go into strict detail but I enjoy watching you guys fail at your attempts in trying to prove the reasons why underground artists aren't mainstream. Oh and by the way, this is how I know you don't know jack shit. Immortal Technique was offered deals since back in 1998 but they tried to censor his music, tellin him to tone down his lyrics. And one of the things that make Immortal Technique a great person is the fact that he does free concerts all year round. And the money that IS made from those concerts are sent to many parts of the world for starving families and for foundations. |

dude, he wasn't being serious in the first place. p.s. tech is pretty good, but his flow isn't amazing & his production sort of sucks & he's a bit of a fat head sometimes. i saw him live in chicago once; it was pretty cool. i have yet to see him live, but i reaaaaaaaally want to. and i think his flow is amazing, i could listen to him all day. |

What would be the point of making and upholding an underground record label if he wasn't? He's been offered deal by labels such as Sony and Defjam, and he's been turning them down because they tried to control him. I.T is too opinionated and strong for other mainstream artists to even handle. |

I.T is too opinionated and strong for other mainstream artists to even handle. you missed the entire point of kc's post. which was, if he's so uninterested and couldn't care less about the mainstream, why even bother going on BET? the silliest thing any artist "against" the mainstream could do would be to willingly go on BET or MTV. so i mean you guys can say how he doesn't care at allabout the mainstream all you want, but he still went on BET lol. i like to listen to IT's stuff to hear what he has to say, but i don't enjoy listening to him for any extended amount of time. if someone said he had good flow, i'd ask what flow, because i don't even think he has any. his production sucks. and over all at some point i get tired of being yelled at in a very angry upset voice, so that's why i can't sit back and listen to him for an hour or anything. if i got to choose how stuff is, i would retire him from music and have just be a writer. reading his stuff is more enjoyable than listening to it to me. |

For the lulz? I dunno... why do people do half the things they do in life? Experience? Maybe he wanted to catch some fans from the mainstream? You know, used BET as a way to promote himself regardless of winning or losing the battle? It surely wasn't over wanting to go into the mainstream. That freestyle or lack of freestyle (30 seconds of free style is just retarded) was well after the few times he turned down major labels. QUOTE at some point i get tired of being yelled at in a very angry upset voice. This made me lawl |

using BET as promotion is what mainstream people do all the time. if he wanted to pick up some non hip hop loving fans who love BET, which i don't know why he'd be interested in picking up in the first place...then he probably did a shitty job because he did a shitty job in his freestyle. however, i agree that a 30 second freestyle is pointless. i don't really care why he went on BET because i don't have virulent hate for everything mainstream at all times. but i just don't think it's any wonder that people would question his supposed hate of mainstream after he chose to go on the most mainstream show ever is all i'm saying.
lol and you know what voice i'm talking about. sometimes i'm just like damn chill out. he seems so worked up and pissed off every single time he raps, it must be a tiring thing for him. |

Some people join the opposite ranks for benefits, some join for infiltration, some do it for experience, some do it to extract information. There's always a reason why, but it was definitely not over getting enslaved to the mainstream industry.

Thx JC, thats exactly what I meant. Also,I agree I.T. just writing, perhaps for Lil Wayne, then he would really be the best rapper alive. |
